I can't recall the exact behavior, but I'm pretty sure that when I
plugged up the vent, I couldn't use the throttle when the choke was on.
I'll have to go back through my notes or set it up again to see what the
reasons were.
On a different note, I finally cleared a tabletop that I'd been
working up to. The jump is about 30-40 feet across (I haven't measured
it) and has a pretty steep incline that you have to climb while getting
up to speed. I hit it almost wide open in third gear just as some rain
hit which allowed for optimum traction. What a great feeling. That
jump was one of my goals for my 40th birthday (sheesh, I'm getting
old). It took me about 10 visits in 10 months to finally do it (I guess
I'm pretty slow at working up to it also :-).
Now I've gotta clear it on the CR. The CR seems to be tougher because
it doesn't have the ability that the DR has to put horsepower to the
ground and tractor up the hill before the jump. The DR allows me to get
up to proper speed, and be in control when/if I pull the trigger. When
I hit it on the CR, it gets squirelly and out of control and I usually
end up backing off before the jump. Also, it looks like it'll require
4th gear on the CR, and it doesn't have the power to pull 4th with the
way I ride it (I've seen others on CR125's clear it, so I'm pretty sure
it's me). I'll keep working on it.
Just some observations by me but others may find things a bit
different.

Harral,
You can solve your problem with the frame, and worst of all the kick
starter, annoying your stand-up riding...and improve the
ergos,balance,suspension,traction(weighting), and overall manners. Move
the footpegs 1.5" - 2" rearward and enjoy a completely different
scooter...that rewards you for standing. It's a little bit of work, but
it's the first mod I'd make to a DR...but then I like to ride standing
up.

Subject: (dr350) Carb question
Hello Jesse I have another question for you. Now
that my DR is set up better for off road riding I am
now able to tackle whoops at a higher speed. I as
well as my comrade are getting a short cut out of
motor when we land hard over these whoops. My guess
is that the trap door on our CV carbs are slapping
shut momentarily upon impact causing this split second
"hiccup". Are there any tricks or gizmos you know of
to help us out and is my guess correct? This is not to
be confused with the bog that the t-vent took care of
for us.

Subject: RE: (dr350) Carb question
Hi John, My theory for this is that the only thing that holds the slide up
is a vacuum and with a hard hit the slide momentarily is forced down by G
force and then is pulled back up by the vacuum again the dirt carb is not
bothered by this because it is held open directly by the throttle cable.
thats your next option the (dirt carb) along with one of my spacers to clear
the starter. let me know when you are ready.
merry christmas, Jesse

Subject: (dr350) dr clutch arm
Jesse... you seem to be coming out with some great products for our bikes...
how about a slightly longer clutch actuating arm for an easier pull? White
Bros. sells a PEP arm but says it only fits 95,96 DR models??? All day
aggressive riding and my upper arms are so tired.. every little bit would help
Guy
