I'm also 6 feet with a 32 inch inseam and I also feel hunched over
when standing. I went with some aluminum bars with the CR high bend.
The ergos are very similiar to my '85 CR125R now. I feel much more
comfortable standing but I agree that it still feels like it needs
something more. I don't want to get too radical with changes but I bet
replacing the triple clamp would help. Unfortunately I don't see any
after-market stuff and I bet that's not going to be a cheap and simple
modification.

Guy,
I too am using the Renthal Jimmy Button High Bars and went with the Baja
Products Seat. Both of the these changes made a big difference. I still
feel like the pegs are in the wrong place for standing, but with the changed
bars and seat, the transition from sitting to standing is much smoother. Now
if I could just make the bike handle the So Cal desert whoops I would be
pretty happy.

Hi Scott, Just a tip that I used, the applied racing clamps have the option
of taller bar mounts that are also offset so that you can move the bars
forward some as well as higher. the only downside is if you get too carried
away your cable's will be too short but you can get longer ones from motion
pro. Another trick that I tried was to install an aftermarket throttle and
single cable. What a relief! I didnt realize the total difference it made
until I rode another DR TG weekend we were riding up a trail about 3 miles
to the top so on the gas all the way up and I thought my hands were going to
cramp up. We then traded bikes and rode another 40 miles that day and no
more problem this kit I put together goes for $44.00 and is easy to put on
and you don't have to whittle the grip off.

Hi Bob, You ought to try the Kouba links they soften up those ripples
significantly I found that out this Thanksgiving weekend Also you may need a
little stiffer front springs than the progressive. The 43kg/mm spring in the
Race Tech three spring kit seems to correct a lot of problems in most of the
DR's with riders over 180lb's hope this helps.

I am over 6 ft. and have the same problem. I had an old Maico that just
begged you to stand up but the DR is a real "sit down" bike. I have seen some
things that attach to the handlebar mounts that move the bars one inch up and
one inch forward but they were $89 so I will not be getting them right away.
Has anyone tried these? How did they work? Are these the Thumper bar
elevators or another product?

Guy,
I'm 5'11" and I just put some taller bars on that I got at the local
shop. They are about 1.5" taller than stock, and now I can stand
straight up and not have to reach down for the bars. Easy fix.

Jesse, Don, Bob, Scott, Chris... Thanks for the feedback... Bob, I don't
think I want a taller seat heighth but I saw tall seat foam is available, Don
yes those are Thumpers 89$ bar elevators, Jesse, I called Applied Racing
it's 145$ for the taller more forward upper triple clamp... pricey.... is it
worth it to me on these stock damper rod forks??... I'll have to think about
it... I have thought of cutting the footpegs off and welding them lower by
1/2 ".... shouldn't go too low... I'd like to try or buy? or design simple
bar risers that bolt in between the bars and the clamp.. just a 1/2 to 3/4 "
and I think standing for a longer period would be possible for me ...
Thanks guys,
Guy

Hi Andrew, I want to thank you again for the long distance call. I will =
come as close as i can to answer your Question. the stock airbox flows =
134.3 cfm with a freshly cleaned airfilter element. It flows about 142 =
cfm with the access door removed and it flows about 145 cfm with the =
airfilter element totally removed and the door off. The vortex airbox =
flows 265cfm with a freshly oiled aifilter element. It is obvious that =
it is superior to the stock airbox. these tests were done on an orfice =
centered flowbench set at 24inches watercolumn . For a look at this test =
pull up my website and the letter from rst racing heads is there to look =
at. It sounds like your dr needs to be jetted up a little a jx =
needle and spring and possibly a richer main for the open throttle lag. =
Do you have a aftermarket freeflowing exhaust on your bike? if so it for =
sure is running lean. Get back to me and may be we can get your starting =
and flat topend corrected without much cost to you other than some jets.
