Gee Doug,
That's really interesting. I just bought two Moose riding jerseys from
a dealer for $9.90 each. Most of the distributors have "clearance"
catalogs for older merchandise, ask your dealer to show you one. Lots of
good stuff for much better prices.
Watcha wanna bet, through Ebay that jersey will sell for more than
retail price.

Hey guys...I just got a hell of a deal on a banged up sportbike, and the guy
threw in the following:
Joe Rocket Balistic Jacket, black, Large, Kevlar patches @ elbows &
shoulders, removable closed-cell armor in same areas, zip-out liner,
supposedly waterproof (according to the tags that are still on it...its
NEW!) Its $219 in my most recent Competition Accs Whse catalog. I'd take
$100 (+S&H) for it.
AGV helmet, black, large, chin & forhead vents, cant find a model number on
it unless its its "Skema"...thats the only thing on the tag in the helmet
that might be a model indicator. It has a tiny scratch on right side under
the faceshield. And the faceshield! It is a double-layer contraption (like
a double-pane window in a house) that traps air between the layers. The
plastic trim that goes around the edges are marked "snowmobile use
only"....but the helmet is definitely a bike helmet...clearly says DOT &
Snell M95 on back. The faceshield makes a TIGHT lockup on the helmet...no
wind/water getting through there. Should be great for winter riding...wont
ever fog. It is like new, with the exception of the little scratch. I'd
take $75 (+S&H) for it.
I can send a pic to ya if interested.

A friend, Arnold, and I spent 30 days towing dualsport bikes around the
west and the midwest. We're both 58 years old, and our riding abilities
are only mediocre. We spent a couple days camped in a town about 10
miles west of Three Forks which is about 60 miles west of Boseman. It
isn't easy to find dirt riding in that area. I wrote the following
shortly after leaving the area to continue on our trip. I hope this
helps you Kevin, and doesn't bore the rest of you to much. We took this
trip around the first week in September.
In the morning, on the information gleaned form a local
fellow, we fire up the M/Cs (which were running excellent, BTW), and
headed out. The temp. was about 60 degrees with enough sun to promise
us an increase. We took the one dirt road that we had been told about.
There are all kinds of dirt roads, and this one was kind of boring.
Smooth hard sand two lanes wide, not even an occasional rut to make it
exciting. In one of the small canyons we did scare up a deer who hopped
across the road in front of us. I had been trying to get a picture of
Arnold riding, so I had the camera out, but I fumbled this opportunity
to get a deer picture, damn.
The road took us to Three Forks where the main freeway had passed
it by years ago. Although the town survived on it farming merit, there
were several old businesses that had gone south like the old hotel
across the street from the cafe that we ate breakfast. It was a nice
cafe that had a banner hung up that said WELCOME RODEO HANDS. Arnold
asked if there was a rodeo in town for the weekend and was told, no. We
figured, they must mean all rodeo people everywhere are welcome. That
little marketing scheme didn't detract from their ability to make
delicious biscuits and gravy.
After breakfast, it was back to the task of finding something
interesting to do. We weren't very hopeful of finding a good dirt road,
so we were looking for other options. A man who made the mistake of
meeting our gaze, told us of some caverns nearby where the park service
gave tours. That was good enough for us. It was only about 12 miles
away, up the Jefferson river. The caverns were my first, and I enjoyed
them as well as the (hoaky) enthusiastic spiel given by the cute tour
ranger. The thing I didn't enjoy was the half mile walk up to the cave
entrance. It took it's toll on Arnold and I. We finished the tour then
had a caffeine drink hoping to be rejuvenated then rode along the
Jefferson back to camp.
I was bushed, but Arnold wouldn't let me rest long. He hadn't had
dirt riding satisfaction yet. The weather was looking somewhat stormy,
but off we went at about 4:30pm. Not five minutes out of camp it
started to rain. It was a summer shower coming out of a cloud that
wasn't very big, so we turned up the speed to get out from under it as
soon as possible. It worked. We were only a little damp by the time we
saw Boulder Creek with Boulder Road heading off beside it. We took a
vote and decide to see where it went. Well, it went and it went, it
eventually turned into 2 lane dirt from oil (as they say in these
parts), then to two track, and then to high clearance 4 X 4 road, all in
the space of 25 miles. We started picking up forest signs saying that
it was only 5 more miles to Sailor Lake near the top of Hollow Top
Mountain. When we arrived at roads end, there was a locked forest
service gate with a sign saying Sailor Lake another half mile walk.
There was a group there that said they thought we could make it, so off
we went for another walk up a mountain. The lake was worth the effort
when we got there. It was a quarter mile in diameter, and nearly in an
unspoiled state, with probable another 1500ft of mountain behind it.
The lake was at 9000ft. We noticed the lack of oxygen exhibited by our
huffing and puffing. By now it was nearly seven o'clock, it would be
dark around 8:30pm, so we needed to hightail it for camp. That was the
fun part, since we knew the road and had the sun at our back, we let the
bikes take their leads, and we were back before we knew it. Funs was
over for now. Tomorrow was a travel day.

I just returned from the 1999 Seattle (WA) International MC show. I
actually sat on and checked out the DRZ400S and photographed it with my
digital camera.
See the photos and a quick write up at:

In conclusion - I will probably sell my 350 in the next year or so and
replace it with a 400.

Hi there. I'm up in Great Falls, about 200 miles north of Bozeman. There
is riding in the Bridger Mountains, just north of the BoZone. Also, there
is a group of really crazy guys that ride over Bear Tooth Pass on large dual
sports every year. The best trail riding is in the Little Belts, near me,
but you would not be too far from their southern end. Basically, you are
surrounded by nice mountains, most of which have some trail riding.
No, there is no trail riding in Yellowstone.
I really like dual sporting more than trail riding. You can do that all
over the state.
When you get here, you must join the Montana Trail Vehicle Riders
Association (PO Box 2884, Great Falls 59403 - This is a state wide
organization.) The only reason we have any trail riding is because of
them.
Of course, you can also check with the local bike shops - I recommend Summit
Motorsports.
Welcome to Big Sky Country.

Hey, great job on the pictures, thanks for sharing them. From your
pictures it looks like they went with aluminum brake and shift levers
(good). Could you tell if they jettisoned the crappy triple clamp?
From your pictures I can almost make it out, but not quite.
