Subject: Re: (dr350) Experience w/ Michelin MX tires?
Bryan;
I've not personally had any experience with the Michelin M12's, but I've read
enough posts on the dirt bike newsgroup to tell you that the tire wears
pretty quickly; and that's from guys who ride strictly in the dirt. IMHO, if
you're gonna put full knobbies on a bike that'll see some road use, I would
get a soft terrain type of tire. Why? Because the rubber compound on these
tires tends to be harder than either tires designed for intermediate or hard
terrain (we're talkin' dirt here). Hard terrain knobbies are made of a soft
compound rubber (the better to grip the hard clay surfaces); these tires will
disolve if used on the street.
The Dunlop 752 or the Pirelli Laguna Cross are two tires I would say could
stand up to the abuse of the occasional short blast down the highway, the
Pirelli more so than the Dunlop. If you put full knobbies on your dual
purpose bike beware, don't play road racer with it; street handling will
definitly be funky and riding in the rain with them is suicidal.
so much for my 2 cents worth......hope it helps
Mike

Thanks Mike- was not aware that the hard/soft ratings on MX tires was like
you said....I thought HARD meant hard rubber. Makes sense though.

Has anyone found a way to mount the thermostat for the Widder electric
equipment on a Roadcrafter so that it is right in front of the "private

that I am playing with myself. Also, what do you folks use for the sleeves
and arms without having too much bulk?
Thanks

From: charles w vokac <cvokac@juno.com>
Subject: (dr350) VA riders
Here in Panama City, Florida there are literally hundreds of miles of
logging roads, fire roads, jeep trails and hunting roads to ride.
However, it's not the greatest riding because it's so hot and dusty. The
scenery is always the same with scrawny pine trees and palmettos. The
trails are difficult because you never know when you will hit a patch of
deep sand. But, it's been a good experience and I've had fun.
I am looking forward to riding in Virginia - especially in the mountains.
Thanks to the person who left the message on where to get off road
trails in the George Washington and Jefferson National forests. When I
get to Richmond in October, I will be ready to try them out.
Oh, another criticism of the DR: If you are as big as me (6'5" 230lbs)
the bike is too low to the ground and it's too short. I find it
necessary to sit way back on the seat or else most of my weight is toward
the front tire making it difficult to ride through mud and sand.
