Hi everybody,
Where can I get a Scott T-handle and the JX needle kit?
Are there any mail-order companies that specialize in
dualsport/ trail/ offroad? (I just ordered a catalog from
Thumper Racing for $3, but I don't know what they sell.)
Thanks in advance,
Gaylord

Paster, you might check the o'ring around the seat part of the needle and seat
assembly in the carb it can leak by if the o,ring is compromised by mtbe in the
Calif.
gas. I would recommend you always shut off the fuel petcock. You might check
with Sudco { mikuni supplier} for the next larger needle and seat assembly for
your carb. Also the float level might need to be raised. best of luck. Jesse

First of all, I think it's great that you're doing the work yourself
and getting into the bike and trying to understand how things work.
I've found by trial and error that it's best to work on my dirt bike
myself as much as possible. It really helps when you're out on the
trail and nobody is around to fix things for you, and from my personal
experience you're more likely to get things done right.
What you're describing sounds similar to something that happened to my
CR125 when I changed the position of the needle in the carb. Try
changing the needle position one clip at a time. I lost all top end on
my CR (which is critical for a 125) when I was trying different
positions.
Good luck!

Steven:
The procedure recommended by the owner's manual is as follows:
1. Start the bike and let it idle for several minutes.
2. Kill the engine.
3. Wait 60 seconds.
4. Check the oil level without screwing in the dipstick.

Guys, I couldn't resist also posting this from Reed:
Hi Tom,
How's it going? Thanks a lot for the word-of-mouth.
Yeah, I'm still riding the same DR350. It is a damn good bike. The
side stand was giving me a lot of trouble but a welding job fixed it up ok.
I also had trouble with the compression (didn't have any) but that seems to
be OK for now. I just broke 44k kms.
The DR350 will be going to Borneo. And I just took it into Angkor Wat,
Cambodia, and back, over the worst road that dared to call itself a road.
Angkor Wat was by far the most amazing place I have ever visited, and
believe me when I tell you I have seen more than most. Nothing else in Asia
compares to this place. Magical. Unbelievable. Mesmerizing. And a real
cowboy town to boot. You know you're not in Kansas anymore when you are in
AW.
We will be offering a special Angkor Wat trip 2nd half of November.
Speak to you soon. Best Regards, Reed.

According to the CG literature, their (now the improved Vortex from Jesse) air
box is good for a few HP over a top cut-out box; their literature with the dyno
curve shows a smooth ark as opposed to the air box cutout's ever-so-slight peaks
and valleys, and the overrev is 500 RPMs more. What the chart does not show is
what is felt when on the trail/road - improved throttle response let alone
convient filter access and added life between services; the square area of the
Uni filter is much larger than stock.

O.K. guys lets get some opinions. How much of a power difference would
there be between the stock air box if it were cut and a K&N airfilter
installed as opposed to the magic airbox and the filter it comes
with? This is in no way, shape,or form a knock on the magic airbox as it's
