Subject: (dr350) Altitude & Suspension Questions
I have a new (less than 600 miles) '97 DR350SE that I'm taking to
Colorado this month. I live in Houston, Texas which is very close to
sea level. I'm planning on riding somewhere in the neighborhood of 10K
- - 12K feet while playing on the jeep trails up there. Can anyone tell
me what I might be able to do to over come the altitude problems with
the carb? Will pulling the "snorkel" out, or removing the cover on the
side of the airbox help compensate for the thin air / high altitude
without having to rejet? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I've read enough from this mail list to know that suspension should be
the first thing I change on my DR, then work on the POWER. You've all
done a bunch of mods to your suspensions. Some you're happy with, some
you're not. What mods/upgrades would you suggest I make to my
suspension and frame while keeping in mind that I'm 40 years old and any
serious (as in life threatening) jumping is well in my past.
Thanks,
Jim
