Subject: (dr350) Suspension setting / Airbox / Pipes / Companies with homepages
Hi guys,
Just want to hear opinions of possible suspension set-ups for the
stock suspension of the '93 DR350S.
I only ride it off-road, mainly in sand and hard terrain.
The rear shock doesn't feel right. The rear is very unstable as It's
always jumping around. It hasn't bottomed yet (I have a lot of rear
preload, almost 3/4 to the harder setting).
I weight 180 lbs. / 82 Kgs fully geared.
I need to replace the stock pipe, noise isn't a problem where I ride,
so what do you guys suggest ? I was thinking about FMF.
I have a Twin Air Filter but haven't done any mod to the airbox. I
know a lot of DR owners cut the top of the standard airbox but as I
ride a lot in sand, won't that allow a lot of dirt/sand to get into
the engine ?
I also would like to know Links to companies that sell the Cycle Gear
Airbox and Supertrapp exhausts and that are willing to ship
internationally.
Also feel free to e-mail me links of off-road related sites.
Thanks in advance !
Best regards,

Claudio,
Hace mucho yo hablo espanol; con permission preferro engles este momento.
To resolve you're suspension woes you need the Kouba Links. Go here to get the
details: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/2299/
As far as cutting the top of the airbox, it's tucked away nicely and takes air
from the front so you don't worry about debris intake.
The Cycle Gear (CG) Magic air box is not out of production (as rumored) but
rather out of stock (Thumper Racing's box is made by CGs). I talked w/ Bernard @
CG (707-747-0330) and he said the costs for guy who has been making it for years
has gone up to where CG feels it is out of range for the average DR owner, and
is looking for someone else to do it. CG knows the demand is there and hopes to
to have it available in the near future.
Both CG & Thumper Racing (903-938-3340) ship internationally. They sell the box
and pipe you are looking for.
Links? How about http://www.off-road.com/~unthank/dr350.html.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but noise is a problem anywhere. I
ride with a guy who doesn't consider noise a problem either and you can here
him a couple miles away. All it takes is a few people to hear one loud bike
and it does damage to our reputation. Do all of us a favor and get a quiet
exhaust.
Thanks
Nick

If noise is no problem Try Mike Young's Big Gun Exhaust. I have had very
good results with mine. http://www.biggunexhaust.com/
Good luck

By the way, After reading Nick's post (he makes a good point) I just wanted
to point out that the Big Gun falls below the db. Rating for all sanctioning
bodies. Its loud but legal (93 db I believe). I would also point out that
many of us ride in ORV areas of national and state parks whereas long as you
are below 98 db you are OK. In the ORV areas they understand there will be a
high noise level.

I just picked up my first ever bike! A '97 DR350SE. The last owner put
on an FMF Megamax II and it runs excellent, with plenty more power all
around than stock. He'd also done a nifty airbox mod, involving drilling
three holes in the side and plugging them with screened, vented ports
that he treated with oil just like the filter. With the rejetting for
the new pipe, plus no chance of sand getting in, this seems like the
perfect solution.
ps. anyone else in New Hampshire?
regards
Chris
