Yeah, trouble is that I have an extremely long fuse - none of this 'I am
woman - hear me roar!' stuff here, unless the local cable provider loses the
feed on Superbowl Sunday ...

I tried that on my most recent oil change, as I WAS anticipating my dealer's
tearing down the engine within 1k miles, but it made little or no
difference.
Oh, and by the way, don't ya EVER be mentch'nin no freakin H-D on the same
page as my DR agin, y'hear??

Hey Lisa is that a little attitude that I hear there? Cool, I like
that.
I try very hard to keep an open mind on all subjects, But Hardley
Ablesons are the one thing that I am negatively and hostilely prejudiced
about. But I digressed, after all this is a Dr list. I hope you get
some satisfaction with your 650.

I currently have a KLR 650. Next year i plan on giving up on the Swiss
Army Knife bike concept and getting a larger and a smaller bike. I've
found my larger bike and thought I'd narrowed the smaller bike down to a
KLX 300, XR 250, or a DRZ 400 with a baja kit so I don't have to trailer
it. A nearly new DR 350SE just showed up in the paper. My questions are
these. First, what is its dry weight. Secondly, is it too heavy for a
primary woods bike? Thanks for the input.

Hello I have a 97 350 se and the dry weight is 285, I have mine down to
270-275 just by losing the stuff you don't need. I ride the bike mostly in
the woods and it does just fine. If you plan to go into the rough stuff or
jump it, it will need suspension work. I love my bike it has something about
it that charms you, kind of like an old VW bug. Hope this helps Jim

I have a 94 Dr350 street version, and find it to be a very light
handling bike with more power than I need. It will hold 65 or 70 on the
HWY. It's buzzing pretty good at those speeds, but the motor is
durable. The suspension differences on the 92 t0 96 and the 97 to 99
are tremendous. The 92 to 96 don't have any rebound adjustment on the
front or the rear. It is a major detriment. The 97 to 99 have both
adjustments on both ends as does the new DRZ400s. Get the DR later
version.

Hi Michael you're welcome...a very good group of folks here but not nearly
as talkative as the KLR group...so you may have to ask the same question a
couple of times...all of the bikes you're looking at are excellent so you're
for sure going to have fun. You might ask yourself how many pavement miles
you'll be doing. And approach the question that way. On this list the 350
has appeared in so many guises it has to win award for versatility...people
have them bored to 435 running RM forks and heavy duty rear suspension...you
name it and it can do it but so can all of the other bikes on your
list...have you looked at a used XR250L '91-95? They have a reputation of
being a superb woods bike...

You'd be shocked at whet the bikes really weigh.I lost
the stuff I dont need the fender under carrige,muffler
and I weighed the bike by putting the front tire on a
scale then did the same with thye front and added them
together.I do not know if this is an accurate weight
but it's 140 front-160 rear=300lbs

Michael,
I have the same DR, and use it for dual sport riding. It does a great
job for me, but I don't know what you mean by a "primary woods bike".
Remember it is a dual sport bike, it can be improved on, especially in
the suspension. As well as changing the suspension for my riding weight
and style, I have an Acerbis tank and run a 13 tooth front sprocket for
trail riding. It weighs about the same as the DRZ400, and even with an
old man's back, I can pick it up with ease. Not that I ever drop it, of
course! ;o) If I can be of any further help, feel free to write me off
list.

When I am riding down and dirty knobby tired single track---I really
prefer something lighter than a DR350 SE, although the bike will get thru
it--just with more effort.
When it really tough and I'm not to concern about being legal I will
ride my TTR250-----But if I need to be squeaky clean legal and maybe going
to ride some road between trails then I ride my DRZ400S--which weighs about
the same as a DR350ES.
