That site looks more scattered than this DR list with all posts linked
and an available archive for searching out specific threads. It also seems
to me that switching or adding sites will only dilute the efforts we all
have and will make by dividing our dr group up among various sites.

It was a nice place to visit, but I'm staying here. Thanks anyway.

Hello,

I'm new to this list.  I just bought a brand new 1999 DR650SE.  I need higher
spring rate springs for the front forks and also the rear shock.  Can anyone
point me in the right direction?

Also has anyone installed Pro Taper bars on their DR?

Jesse has a digital camera and so I posted those trick fender pics for you
guys at his website, www.kientech.com down at the bottom there is a link
with four pics of that fender,  it does look trick I have to admit I'm

I used Progressive Larry Roesler springs for the front. The rear springs are
a problem we're just now trying to solve. I'm having the Progressive 620
shock spring installed on my stocker. I'm going to lose the ability to
factory lower the bike but I should be moving up from a 6.5 kg to a 7.0 kg.
More when I get it back. Ohlins also lists a rear shock for the DR.

To the list:
    Yesterday I wrote a note regarding a problem that I have had with the
Happy Trails highway pegs. The way I wrote it may have given the
impression that Happy Trails was not responding to the problem.
    Actually they had been working on the problem, but had not yet gotten
back to me as they had no information yet on it. The problem may not
occur for all riders, and may not occur with aftermarket pipes.
    My whole intent was to alert other users to this potential problem, and
show them a possible fix if it was a problem for them. At no point did I
mean to be negative about Tim Bernard or Happy Trails, but on re-reading
the note, I cans see how it could be misconstrued that way.
    I would encourage anyone with a DR350 who uses it on the street to look
into this product. It allows you to have a very relaxing position on the
bike when traffic allows.
    Also, Tim has offered to make the pegs wider, if I decide that is
needed for my personal application.
    Happy Trails makes Happy Riders! (my slogan, not theirs, but it could
be)

Jeff,

have a look at the archive of the list, we had several posts about the
springs.
In the US it seems to be a bit difficult to find stiffer springs, but I
know that some companies have them (White Power, Technoflex, Promoto).
I use stiffer springs front and rear (each + 10 % stiffer) and had my
rear shock rebuild with more dampening. Feels much better now. Oehlins
rear shock must be very good too !

Forums are ok, I guess, but I feel that this list is where my best info is
going to come from without having to scan through unnecessary comments,
personal messages to other screen names, flame comments, etc. I'll post some
things on the forum and wish those folks all the best, but it's just so much
more personal on this list.

Jesse is a resource worth his weight in gold and Kurt has been the best! I
feel like I know Wayne Marsula personally, and I like reading the posts form
[that guy in Finland- Mikko(?)]

Thanks Scott, I haven't been able to devote as much time as I would like but
it will come with the two project DR's...Shane is developing a website and I
have in mind doing one for Dual Sport News as well...I don't think the
forums develop the sense of community that a list does, I recognize that may
not be high on the agenda for some folks...

  I just got the Dynojet Kit for my '99 DR350SE, and they recommend turning
the airscrew all the way in until it stops, then 2 1/2 (two and a half)
turns out after installing any of their main jets and needles. I will be
installing a new mainjet and needle this weekend, so I'll post how that
comes out. I just bought the bike two weeks ago when spring was starting,
and in the past week we have gotten 18 freekin' inches of snow here in
Northern Vermont! Aaaauuughhh!!!
