Subject: (dr) Vortex airbox and Baja Designs lighting combo
Hi list,
Do any of you DR350 (dirt version) owners have both a Vortex (or
Cycle Gear) airbox *and* a Baja Designs dual-sport lighting kit installed?
I understand the BD kit comes with some kind of bracket to mount a
nicad battery either on or near the stock airbox. Is this setup compatible
with the non-standard airbox?
Thanx,

Instructions for loading DR in your pick-up:
1. Park truck at far end of 80' double at local moto-x track.
2. Ride DR around the track for a recon lap. (like Evel used to do)
3. Make sure your friends are watching and jump the DR over the double,
into the back of the truck.
4. Be sure to do the knack-knack-heel-clicker thing like Travis
Pastrana might do.
5. Be sure to open the sliding rear window, so that when you do the
flying "W" you will end up in the drivers seat. Have the truck
running, then just slam it into gear and take off creating an awsome
double roost. This part will really impress your friends.
6.You won't need any tie downs, 'cause the front wheel will be stuck
about half a foot into the cab.
OR,
7. Skip 1-6 and just use a board. Just don't let your friends see you.
You'll never live it down...

Hi mr. Petursson The powercore four is a quality pipe that is some what
louder than your stock pipe and should produce more power. When you cut the
top of the airbox out you should have a 4x3 inch hole just behind the airbox
mounting bracket. then you will have to rejet the carburetor a 140 main
would be a good place to start I am assuming that this is a dirt only bike
if so you may need to drop the clip on the jet needle to the fourth groove.
let me know how this works out, and if you have more questions please
contact me.

Subject: (dr) 350 SE key ignition switch change
Hi
All mounting parts in my350 SE's instrument panel are broken,
so I'm going to take it away, I was wondering would DR650 SE's
(or any other Suzuki's model) separate key ignition switch be suitable
for my 350 SE. Is there anything special with SE's ignition wiring.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Hi Mr. Petursson. I found a FMF MegaMax (discontinued product) from
Motorcycle Accessories Wharehouse and the power gain with no other mods
(stock jetting, etc) was very noticeable. The noise increase was not that
much- it mostly changed the pitch to a more "throaty" bark. I am told that
the Big Gun and the Power Core IV are VERY loud.
The welds rusted after ten minutes of riding.
Next week I am going to cut a 3X4" hole in the top of my airbox and rejet.
Jesse-> do you recommend a 140 jet for this setup?

The megamax is a good pipe. The powercore in my opinion
only outflows it.My buddy has the same year bike as me
and we each have the above exhuasts. My bike with the
powercore4 would pull him a bit and I weigh 20lbs more
than him. With the Megamax you need to place small
washers between the discs to open it up more. The setup
it comes with crushes the plates together and is
somewhat restrictive. My buddy did this to his and it
helped. It did make it louder and at wide open throttle
our bikes are equally as loud.Simple formula is
Loud=power period.FMF has redesigned the powercore4
and calls it the powercore4-2 and claim it is much
quieter with the same power output and costs about 40
bucks more.I could not find a Megamax as that was the
pipe I originally wanted and I am glad I got the
powercore4.I am awaiting the release of the Powerbomb
header pipe and will post results when I get it
$189.99
Next mod -dirt carb setup from Jesse.
P.S. This guy sent his motor to Jesse for the 435 kit
and cam and head I don't think i'll pull him anymore:(

Subject: (dr) DR250 terrible blubber off of idle
I have a 93 DR250 that I'm trying to improve the performance on.
With the stock muffler I've been noticing a blubber (hesitation) when
grabbing a hand full of throttle off idle. What do I do to get rid of this
blubber? I put a Supertrapp exhaust on it thinking it would help the
problem. It increased throttle response slightly and gave more power
however it did not cure the blubber. I've noticed all the discussion about
the powercore4 and other exhausts that offer better performance. So I'm
thinking about trashing the SuperTrapp and buying a Cobra, FMF or other
exhaust. My question is...what's the best exhaust, standard airbox mods, and
jetting alternatives for improved performance and to eliminate the low end
blubber on a DR250 (off road version)? Any other advice would be
appreciated.
