  53. Hi,
  54.     Sam's Club in St. Louis is selling the Larin 1500lb. Motorcycle/ATV
  55. Jack (Model LATV-J) for $99.97.  The box says the jack's maximum height
  56. is 17", the lowest height is 5".  It also has 6 locking positions.  Does
  57. anyone have any experience with this jack or with other Larin jacks?
  58. Any recommendations?  Warnings?
  59.     I was going to replace the foot-stool I currently use with a Moose
  60. lift stand or comparable model, but the Larin jack looks much more
  61. versatile.  Unfortunately, it's also a lot heavier and takes up more
  62. floor space when it's not in use.
  63.     Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

  128. Hi Mark,you just lift the bike with a jack stand so the wheel is off the
  129. ground.  You measure from the center of the rear axle to 20 inches and make
  130. a small mark on the side cover, then let the bike down and with riding gear
  131. stand on the pegs with some one holding the bike have some one remeasure
  132. from the center of the axle up to your mark 100mm is 4inches so you should
  133. now be 16 inches with  inches of sag. Hope this helps

  185. When you set your sag, it is reccomended that to be consistant, the
  186. rider needs to be standing on the pegs, as an inch forward or back
  187. setting on the seat is a lot. Put a mark on the rear fender where it is
  188. perpendicular to axel arc, and measure from the axel to the mark with
  189. the rear wheel off the ground. Then make the same measurement from the
  190. same two points with the rider (in full riding gear) standing on the
  191. pegs.   The Suzuki Rep. told us that 3.75" of sag is where it should be
  192. on the DRZ400.  The problem is, if you are around 180 lbs, after setting
  193. the sag at 3.75 inches, the free sag (motorcycle weight only) is over
  194. 1.25 inches.  This is approx. 1/2 inch more than it should be.   This
  195. tells me the rear spring is either too stiff for the average, or the sag
  196. should be set at around 3.25 inches for the lighter riders. The front is
  197. just fine with the .44kg springs and the preload is pretty close unless
  198. motorcross is the plan. Let us know what sag setting works best for

  238. I just had a nice ride today in the Tillamook Burn area up here in Oregon,
  239. on the new Kientech engineered scooter-  it's definitely two thumbs up!
  240. Rode with an RM250 and an XR400,  and found a chance to do a little drag
  241. racing against the XR.
  242. Easily passed him,   no question  who had the juice between them.  The DR
  243. hasn't even been broken in yet,   less than a tank of gas thru it.
  244. Didn't get a chance to drag the XR600 that joined us,  not that I expect it
  245. to beat one but it would have been interesting to compare.
  246. Ever do third gear power wheelies? accidentally?
  247. For anyone who has considered upgrading their DR,  I can say without doubt
  248. that you will be pulling lots of bugs from your teeth from grinning so hard.
  249. It's really kinda fun to surprise riders who haven't been exposed to a
  250. almost maxed out  DR. ( "what are those big fins? 'That doesnt sound like my
  251. buddy's DR" Hey I need one of those chest guards, those rocks HURT")

  273. I guess that's most of the mods so far.  Other things I want to do yet:
  274. The bike has a Cobra muffler, I'm gonna junkpile it where it belongs and get
  275. a power core IV or Big gun this week to round it out the engine work,
  276. Jetting with a Cobra is known to be problematic, and I want mine to run as
  277. good as Jesse's does =).  He has the older Mega Max I think.
  278. Also might know someone who boxes in swingarms =)

  280. A warning to all of you,  if you ever get a chance to ride Jesse's DR you
  281. will be bitten, and you will succumb to the intoxication of the Thumper in
  282. all it's glory -  this is inescapable,  so be forewarned.....
