Wayne,
I think you are stuck if you keep the stock shock. Eibach,
Race Tech and Progressive do not make a spring for the stock shock, I
checked. I am about 200lbs. and have the adjustment ring pretty much at
the end of the threads to get the sag right. It is a bit soft too. I
need to check to see if Progressive still makes the 415 shock for the
DR650SE. I read an early test on the bike and that was what they put
on...sounded good...fully adjustable, remote reservior, etc. all for
about $400. Their web page only lists the 420 shock, whick is not fully
adjustable, but about the same price. Please let us know what you find
for springs, because I know Race Tech does make a cartridge or Gold
Valve for the rear shock. I'd like to upgrade too. I think the stock
suspension is made for about a 160lb rider.... Good Luck!!

I can't get the sag right on my 97 DR650. I need a heavier spring.
Suzuki
doesn't show an optional spring. I don't know the spring rate of the
stocker to compare. What am I to do?
I weigh about 250 ready to ride.

I was more than a little upset to find out that Race Tech didn't have a
spring. I sent my suspension to Precicison Concepts after talking with Bob
Bell. He said that they would put a heavier spring on it. I received the
stuff back with the Gold Valve and anodizing complete with the stock spring.
Finally found out that they didn't have another spring. Had I known I might
have just opted for the Progressive or even an Ohlins...but I've yet to try
it out and that will be the real indicator. One thing I did find out is that
the recommended sag setting (the starting point) is way down the shock body
so it could be that looks are deceiving. I think that is because they had to
have the extra threads available for the lowering option.

Wayne,
White Power has heavier springs for the DR650, also the german company
TechnoFlex.
I don't know wich rate you need, but you might try the RaceTech web-site.
They offer something like a "custum suspension setting" (don't remenber
exactly) and I believe it calculates the right spring rate.

HI all,
I have the Progressive application file in my computer, and it does not
show ANY rear spring for the DR650. I'll check to see if there is an
update, but I doubt that would be something they would add. A call to
them may help, they are pretty good at coming up with something that
will work.

Wayne, I put an 8.1 kg Eibach spring on my 96 DR350. I dont know if the 650
has the same shock or not but I got mine from White Bros. in California. The
spring helped a lot but the shock still bottoms easily. I would recommend the
spring and a gold valve.

I have an SE as well and use the Pirelli MT21 in the
rear and a Dunlop K139 in the front. This is in my
opinion only the most aggressive D.O.T. legal set up
you can buy.Stick with the 120 width in the rear. You
can fit the 130 but I do not think a stock motor needs
a bigger than 120 to provide good traction. The Pirelli
will also give you good wear this is my set up now and
future.Any other sugg. guys?

I recently put a Mikuni pumper carb on my DR350 and have noticed it is a
lot harder to start when cold. With the CV carb all I had to do was pull
the choke and hit the button and it would start within 2-3 seconds. When
I try that now it probably takes 10-15 seconds with some stalling and
restarting. Anyone have any suggestions?

I too am looking for advice on a startup problem. I just had a Baja Designs
light kit installed by someone. When the bike was delivered, it started
great -- 2-3 kicks, but when riding, I noticed some hesitation at higher
revs, and it sounded differently. Got on the bike yesterday and it would not
start for nothing. Smelled gas. It was on the verge of starting, a few times
it started for a few seconds, then died. It backfired a few times, when I
kicked it. Tried all choke variations. The mechanic said he did some
adjustments to valves and carb...Any suggestions most appreciated.!

Subject: (dr) GPS wiring on DR350
List,
I am in need of a wiring schematic for the DR350, I want to be able to
patch into the present wiring to run a cable for the GPS, It appears
that the headlight recieves different voltages, or amps through the
throttle range. The specs on the GPS are 12 to 14V. I will need
something to stablize the voltage. Is there anyone out there that has
done this and know exactly what electronic componets are needed. That
would sure solve alot of the problems.
Thanks
