Andy, thanks for the description of Dual Sporting, Great Britain Style.

Some of the most fun I've had on my DRS350 was the month I spent in Seattle
a few years back.  I was staying near downtown and had evenings off every
day (heaven!).  So, I would ride around and up and down the city streets.

At night, there was no other traffic.  I had all those city streets to
myself.

The streets are pretty steep, and I enjoyed popping wheelies up them for a
block or more.  It was cool listening to the (loud) exhaust note echo off
the empty sky scrapers.

Cornering around city streets was fun - I pretended I was a supermotard.  I
had Metzeler Enduro tires, which make for nice road racing, and I would try
and scrape the footpegs.  Freeway on/off ramps were fun, too.

Yes, the urban jungle can be a fun place to dual sport.

Tom,

As far as I know Acerbis does not make a specific tank for the DR 650 SE.
With some modifications it is possible to use the tank of the older DR 650 (you
need to move the cooler a bit (get's less air ?!?) ...).
You better might try the IMS tank.
There is also an other centerstand, made by the german company JF
 http://www.jfmotorsport.de/
They don't show it at their websites, but they have a centerstand.

Kurt, I hope you keep us posted about your expiriences with the Laser Pro
exhaust , your new jet kit and the suspension work !

Hi Tom,

If you can scrape the pegs on city streets you're a braver man than me!
I've managed a knee down a couple of times on grippy surfaces with a soft
landing on the side of the road if needed, but not in the city, and never
any metal scraping!

My riding isn't that representative of British Dual-sporting, I'm sure.  The
are areas over here where you can get off road without upsetting the masses
and the law, but none around where I live.  Coupled to that I use the bike
for a 40 mile round trip to work each day (15 mins on the bike each way or
45 in the car, so the bike goes even in snow) so I can't afford to get too
ambitious with jumps and stuff in case I terminally bend it. MotoX and
trials have a dedicated and capable following, but the vast majority of
non-commuter bikes sold over here are race-reps, predominately Japanese.
I'm old enough to have been brought up on Brit Iron, but there's not much
left now.  The other market, Harleys and Jap clones, come out on sunny days,
but they're not really suited to the backroads, the only place not
choc-a-block with police, speed cameras, and slow-moving traffic.

For me the DR rules!  But then I can't afford a KTM Duke or a CCM 604!

with them and boy do you have to wait .
heres a few examples

pannier racks   4 months
ricky cross head light gaurd 4 months
lazer pro duro exhaust   3 months
a tyre   yes a tyre           2 months


this is just a couple of examples i could go on .        just dont hold
your breath!

In their defence I use M&P quite a bit and have never had to wait more than
2 days, even when I haven't paid for speedy delivery.  Did they advise that
they were out of stock on the items you ordered?  Stuff I've had has been
tyres, chains, sprockets, clutch plates, brake pads, hoses, screen, luggage,
tools, etc...all stock items I guess, so I've been lucky
