Hi pilot community.
I got a MAc Firebird 2 - of Gravis - in order to fly with Hornet Korea. It has
the nice feature to have a throttle lever configurable. Although to set it
working seems straightforward, it seems not to work with Korea.
Has anyone experience with it? Does anyone knows of a configuration set tuned
for the Hornet to download?
Best regards and shoot straight!

Going into Saturday's tournament, the Cougars and Smeagol are on top of the
Hornet Korea Ladder. But the Panthers and D-man is breathing down their
necks. Both the top squadron and top pilot will win a prize AS OF when the
tournament is done along with the top pilot OF THE tournament. Tournament
scores DO NOT count against the ladder.
It should prove interesting who the winners will be since Smeagol and D-Man
are both in the tournament. And tournament registration is closed as of
midnight Pacific time Wednesday, Oct 14, 1998

Date: 18 Oct 1998 23:49:43 -0700
The most star-crossed tournament is now over. After agreeing to the final
round being carried into the following day, there is a winner and runnerup
by virtue of combat, rather then default.
The winner of the tournament is Three
The runnerup is D-Man
For Three, he will be getting a copy of GTT's Mac Hornet software Both
Three and D-Man can select the Gunsmoke Aggressor Sq of their choice. The
Aggressor sq's are truly Elite as they are special squadrons that consist
of tournament winners and the runnerup
Top Squadron goes to the Panthers
Top Squadron pilot goes to D-Man
Top Squadron will recieve the use of a competition ladder for a month
(maybe more) and have a password access message board set up.
Top Squadron pilot also recieves a copy of GTT's software.
For the software, Eric Joiner of GTT will be handling that after I forward
him the necessary e-mail addresses
The next tournament (not yet scheduled) will be using Bullseye's WWI flight
sim, Flying Circus. For those of you interested, drop in #skyfighters on a
sandnet server (sanfrancisco.ca.us.sandnet.org, port 7000)
There will be another Hornet tournament for Mac users, but the next Hornet
one will probably be for PC users

Hello,
I thought some of you might be interested in this. "White Box" just
means it has generic packaging, the hardware is the same as the "regular"
version. This card can be upgrade to 8MB of VRAM cheaply (about $25)
using the any 4MB SGRAM module made for a G3 PowerMac. It's perfectly
usable with just the standard 4MB of VRAM too.
Hiram
From Deal-Mac <http://deal-mac.com/>
"Small Dog Electronics offers the "white box" (OEM) version of the ATI
Xclaim 3D 4MB with Rage Pro for $129. That's $20 off for deal-mac
readers, the lowest price we've seen, and about $30 less than the best
price we could find on the retail version. Mention "deal-mac" and the
offer in the comments field of the online order form, or call
802.496.7171 to order. Offer ends October 23. (11:00)"

Warbirds 2.5 is now available for the Macintosh. If you have the latest
version (I believe it's 2.0.1) you need download only the 9.5 Megabite
update. And if you have the latest aircraft in your Cockpit folder, you
need only dowload the four new aircraft-Betty, Ju52, Ju87 and Mosquito-that
is identified as
New640art.sea.hex (4.3 Megabites). You can transfer all cockpit art except
the tower, chute and F6F, otherwise you'll get a message that you can't
shift art. If you don't have the latest version of Warbirds, you'll have to
download everything. It's an improved version in many ways, except you
can't make changes to sounds or the panel that enables you to select your
starting altitude, etc. If you get stuck, feel free to write me direct.

Subject: (cww) Wanted: Flight Sim Instructors
Date: 23 Oct 1998 18:58:11 -0700
Hi,
At one time, I started an organization to help people get training with
various flight sims. Then, for a long time, I didn't have any time to put
into developing the organization. This organization is the 3rd Fighter Wing
(http://www.inficad.com/~cdb/3FW/3FW.html).
The idea is to have a place/organization to help rookies find training. And
to help form training squadrons where none exist. Or any training exist.
Either individuals or squadrons can volunteer to provide training. And, in
the case of a volunteer squadron, that is no outside interference in
squadron affairs. What command structure there is will help individuals
coordinate training and give whatever guidance might be needed. I hope to
recruit some more people to provide more staff and the nucleus of new
training squadrons.
The current pages for the 3FW are out of date, but reflect what has been
done and will be done. I am looking for volunteers (individual and
squadron) willing to be listed as sources of training. Individuals would be
listed by e-mail. Squadrons would be listed by squadron web page.
If you're interested, please contact me.

Have Warbirds 2.5 and the new aircraft loaded in my Mac G3 and need some
info from more knowledgeable Warbirds users. 1) Warbirds 2.0.1 let you
select altitudes from sealevel to 20,000 feet (good for practicing
landings), but in 2.5 this setting is frozen at 0 feet as are other flight
settings. 2) Sound settings also are frozen meaning that engine sounds
drown cannon and mg firing sounds. Most other settings are frozen except
the radio buttons for sprockets or ThrustMaster and mouse.
Is it possible that these settings are not frozen for Wintel users and only
the Mac application is affected?
The idea of offline training means you access the settings and prepare your
aircraft for combat. Possibly those signed up for network play are the only
ones who can make settings changes. If so, this would discourage people
like me from jumping into a combat situation without familiarizing the
program throught adequate offline training. Would like to hear from
Warbirds veterans on Settings and what it takes to access them via offline
training. Thanks.

Sorry Bob,
At this time 3D is NOT supported on the Macintosh. This was a decision
IMOL made some time ago when they started looking at 3D. They
originally wanted to do it in OpenGL, but at that time, the drivers
weren't finished. They hoped for OpenGL because it was easily portable
between PC and Mac. Also, at that time, they were severely hurting in
the Mac development department. There was no way for them to devote the
resources to creating a completely separate Mac 3D program, with Mac
drivers. So instead, they decided to write it in Direct3D, which as you
may know, is PC only. They made the decision to go with D3D because of
the greater compatibility among 3D cards, unlike Glide, etc.
The good news is they have not given up on a 3D Mac version. The Mac
version is under constant development by a guy(Hoss) who has essentially
had to start from scratch, learning someone else's code. This one man,
programming wonder is working feverishly to bring the Mac version up to
speed with its PC counterpart. Currently his plate if full getting the
GUI(Graphic User Interface) on par with the PC version. This will
greatly facilitate future updates to be released at the same time. Once
he gets all of that done, he can start work on implementing 3D for the
Mac. Obviously, it won't happen in the immediate future, but it
shouldn't be too far off either.
Warbirds is an excellent WW2 simulation, whether it be on PC or Mac.
Showing your support is the best way of ensuring that 3DWarbirds comes
to the Mac.
Wicked
ps. I am a PC user.

I 'think'/'remember' you will find that owing to a bug you have to set the
FB throttle wheel to trim and trim to throttle in HK
I used to have a Firebird, but found it far too sensitive, once I tried a
Thrustmaster I knew I could never fly well with a Firebird.
try the attached set I found in my system folder

I need advice from someone who is flying Warbirds 2.5 on a Macintosh G3.
The screenshots showa modeled terrain such as I get in my GSC Hornet Korea
flight sim with my 3Dfx Voodoo card. I downloaded WB 2.5, but get the
triangular terrain modeling as in Hornet 3.0, etc. What do I need to do in
order to get the 3Dfx terrain modeling to appear in the current Warbirds?
