Buy a PC :-)
There is no 3d Warbirds for Macintosh.

The screenshots are from the PC version. Currently no 3Dfx version exists
for the Macintosh. However, in a few months, the Mac programmer (-HOSS-)
should have the missing features on 2.5 complete, and then can start work
on a 3D version.
Currently, no promises have been made that a 3D version will occur - only
that they will look into the feasibility of one. However, I see nothing
which will prevent them from doing one, so I think chances are good we'll
eventually see one, though it may be 12,18 or 24 months from now.

It's interesting that you're a copywriter and also enjoy flight sims, as do
I. Also, I recently retired from teaching advertising design and
copywriting at Ohio University. We tried PCs, but ultimately bought Macs
for our two labs and for the advertising faculty. A PC is perfect for
writing copy. But if my students turned in an ad design and copyfit was
off, this earned them an automatic F.
Thanks for the info.

Cool. I'm graduating with a degree in Computer Graphics on Thursday, and
if we ever used a PC to do our homework, we'd fail the class. As it was,
we couldn't stand the pesky things anyhow. Our Macs run circles around
PC's and our work can be printed in Postscript with no errors. =) Good
ole' Postscript. Macintosh native.

Yeh I have always used a mac myself, but it's a sad fact that 3d warbirds
for us is still a long way off. On the plus side, tomb raider is now
available for the mac!

Apologies for the attachment, but it is merely a simple text doc .sit.
The card it describes seems pretty cool to me, what do others think before I
open my wallet?

Subject: (cww) Announcing: The First FC Tournament: Dawn Patrol
Date: 07 Nov 1998 10:03:04 +0100
Greetings,
Now that Bullseye Software's Flying Circus has been on the streets for a
couple months, it's high time we had a tournament. To get things off the
ground (pun intended), The 493rd WarDogs and CWW are sponsoring a couple of
contests.
--- Dawn Patrol ---
WarDogs will be holding a head-to-head tournament on Saturday, November
14th, at 8 pm EST. We'll be meeting up on irc.sandnet.org, #flyingcircus.
Details are available at:
http://orgchem.colorado.edu/sf/dawnpatrol.html
This gives you hot-dog FC pilots one week to sharpen those skills and
show the rest of us who's the ace and who's Fokker Fodder.
--- FC Ladder Contest ---
Dawn Patrol will kick off CWW's ladder for Bullseye Software's Flying
Circus. Dale tells me that CWW will award a prize (or prizes?) to be
announced later, for the pilot(s?) who top the FC ladder one month later
(December 14th).
Hope to see you there. Feel free to email me if you have any questions
about FC or Dawn Patrol.

Subject: (cww) Warbirds on G3 Mac
Date: 08 Nov 1998 17:27:38 -0500 (EST)
I'm running WarBirds 2.5 on a G3 Mac and am getting a great frame rate, but
am having problems with the Settings file. I can manipulate all settings
except the Sound setting. When I click on any of sounds, such as engine
sounds, to increase or decrease the level, I get a jump back to the
application window. My brother also downloaded WarBirds 2.5 on his Mac 7500
and he can manipulate all the settings-flight, sound, etc. Thinking I might
have had a glitch in downloading from the internet, I copied his WB file
and downloaded it into my G3. When I tried to manipulate Sound settings
with his download, I again got jumped back to the WB application. This
leads me to believe that it is my G3 CPU that is the cause of my problem.
Any suggestions from you Mac fliers?

I am going to take a WILD stab at this, being that I am an Ex-Mac user
for a while now.
What OS are you running? 7.5, 7.6.1, 8.0, 8.1, 8.5?
I have heard that there are some extra files(Appearance Manag./Sprokets)
that may need to be used. They should be in a folder marked "System 7
stuff"(?) or something similar. It should have been included with the
original download/install.
This advice may well be way off the mark but it most likely couldn't
hurt. The Mac GUI(Graphic User Interface) is not yet complete, so
strange things may and do occur. And being that these files have
something to do with the Appearance Manager...Warbirds interface...well
just a guess.
And hey! If by some strange quirk of fate that this actually works,
please let me know. Just curious.
Good Luck!

Here's an excellent deal on the Xclaim Rage Pro 2D/3D accelerator. This

Just had some fantastic help from Russell Mirabelli, a Mac programmer at
WarBirds. I couldn't alter the sound settings and kept getting crashes.
Turns out I had three extensions and a control panel that he cited as
possible culprits. I disabled MercutioGuard, Media Man and Power Peek
(extensions) and Scrolling 7.1 (control panel) and this solved my problem.
I now have full control over all sound settings. My computer is a 233/G3
desktop Mac with a 4 Gig hard drive and 64 Megs of RAM. Don't hesitate to
contact me if you are having any problems with WarBirds on a Mac G3 (and a
G3 is the only way to fly!).

Heyas,
As Michael pointed out, the WarDogs and the CWW jointly sponsoring a
Bullseye Flying Circus festival that consists of a tournament and who and
what squadron is on top of the FC ladder at the end of the month. This is
primarily a WarDogs event so I defer to Michael and the WarDogs regarding
any rules or ROE.
Prizes for the pilot at the top of the ladder:
CWW hat (not for sale anywhere:))
Electronic plaque
Admission to the CWW Aggressor squadron of your choice (runner up, too)
Prizes of the top squadron:
Exclusive use of a competition ladder for at least one month
Permanet use of a message board

If you are new to wanting to fly against other people online,
the 3rd Fighter Wing is set up to help. The 3FW is very
informal and casual. It is a source for help. The help is
provided by individuals and sqaudrons interested in
helping. These people and organizations have full control of
how the training is handled and proceeds
http://www.inficad.com/~cdb/3FW/3FW.html
Use the Training link
And if you are an individual or organization that wishes to
help train others in flight sims, I would like to add you. And it
is for any flight sim, Mac or PC. And I hope to add "how to"
files shortly. And the training site will shortly be linked to all
the CWW ladders for added exposure

Best Data has the 4 meg Arcadefx. Its on special for $50. You'll need a
cable from Griffin Technologies for your Mac. Its $25 including shipping.
Griffin is at http://www.nashville.net/~griffin/ne3d/index.html
Best Data is at http://www.bestdata.com/gamers.html
Bear in mind that some flight sims require 6 megs or more of video. I
bought my card primarily to fly the Hornet in the Korea sim. I get great
frame rate out of the Arcadefx card.

Subject: (cww) Results of Dawn Patrol tournament
Date: 20 Nov 1998 07:51:01 +0100
A little late, but...
The Dawn Patrol tournament was held, as scheduled, this past Saturday.
After some hard battles and long fights, Harp emerged as the first "ace" in
Bullseye Software's Flying Circus. But, it's not like it was a cake walk.
Gorilla came in second, but only by one kill. The two were tied for first,
and the match between the two of them would be the deciding match. After a
long and gruelling fight, in which Gorilla and Harp were tied (still) at
two kills each, it came down to the last kill in the last match. Harp
pulled ahead 3-2.
With his victory, Harp won the Bullseye Software Flying Circus T-shirt, and
the privilege of 'buying' in the officer's mess. ( I think I forgot to
mention this last part beforehand).
Both Harp and Gorilla are to be congratualted on excellent flying. I also
want to thank all the other competitors who turned out, and the spectators
who dropped by.
Since the turnout was encouraging, we will be holding a Dawn Patrol II
towards the end of the CWW Ladder competition -- which is due to be
completed around Dec. 15th (+/-). I'll post a more specific time and date
when I get it settled. The ROE will be the same, so this is your heads-up
to practice. You now know there is some stiff competition out there. The
details and official mission file are still available at:
http://orgchem.colorado.edu/sf/dawnpatrol.html
Hope to see you there..

Doesn't the 6100/60 need a Processor Direct Slot Card (PDS) or somthing
like that? (ie not Numbus) I am not entirely sure of this, but i thought
that was the only expansion it had. (Maybe for the DOS card).
Maybe someone who knows could clarify this....
