Hi all
I was surprised to find the Brisbane based band Walisuma playing
at our local agricultural show. Well one thing lead to another so
I showed of my PVC quena and sikus. They seemed really
surprised by the quality of my instruments and I was too.
They were especially impressed by the base notes of my malta
which is made from =BD inch electrical conduit.
( the high end is another story of course )
I have always had difficulty getting much response from these
narrow base pipes. I thought this was simply because they
were too narrow.
Walisuma however were able to easily obtain a very strong
resonant base. I assume my embouchure technique must not
be quite right.
Unfortunately neither of us had enough time to explore this.
Can someone please give a detailed description of the correct
embouchure?
