††In 1872, John Kimberly and Charles Clark built a small paper mill in Neenah, Wisconsin, USA to produce newsprint. They produced high quality paper and expanded to owning and managing nine mills. They had their own research and development team by the early 1900s, and their chemists developed cellulose wadding and paper tissue.
In 1924, Kimberly and Clark launched their paper tissues on the general market. The tissues were known as 'Kleenex-'Kerchiefs'. Later this was shortened to 'Kleenex'. Today Kleenex is registered in over 130 countries.
