THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF RUSSIA USES FINE READER HANDPRINT FORMS FOR AUTOMATIC DOCUMENT INPUT

The Russian Federation Testing Center for Senior High School Students patronized by the Ministry of Education of Russia provides a testing program for Senior Students. In accordance with the Ministry of Education Decree on centralized testing of senior high school students it is recommended that high schools, universities and colleges of Russia accept the testing results for their final and entrance exams respectively. There are over a hundred of representative offices of the Testing Center in the universities and colleges of Russia. 128 universities and colleges admitted students on the basis of the testing results in 1997. Approximately 150 thousand students took the test.

400 thousand students were expected to take the test in 1998, so it was decided that the data input process be automated. When taking the test the examinee fills in a machine-readable test form. Later on at the Data Input Technological Department the data from all the forms are input in the computer using FineReader 4.0 Handprint Forms technology. In ten days all the examinees get the test results. 

The volumes of the data to be processed have been constantly growing, but the automated data input system has always demonstrated brilliant results dealing with the task.
