ABBYY Software House and MitCom Neue Medien are now offering the award-winning OCR FineReader 4.0 Software for beginners at an attractive price.

Hanover, CeBIT, 24th of February 2000 - with this new product ABBYY Software House and MitCom Neue Medien is targeting users who are not computer specialists. The proven optical character recognition software ABBYY FineReader 4.0 is now available in a StartUp version, which takes beginners through their paces.

ABBYY FineReader 4.0 StartUp for Home Use

FineReader 4.0 StartUp is the solution for all those users who wish to scan PC texts, tables, graphics, layouts and photos, also in color, into their own computer. The ôScan&Readö« Wizard also takes you step-by-step to the best possible result. To do this reading the handbook is not really necessary. The result of the scanned document resembles the original very closely. Thanks to the impressive engine, the same one as used in ABBYY FineReader 4.0 Professional, the multiple award-winning OCR software. Thus a high quality of recognition is beyond any doubt. Scanned documents can be exported directly into Word, Excel, WordPerfect or WordPro with a simple mouse click. FineReader StartUp also supports documents in HTML format, enabling precise presentation for the Internet and in PDF format, which alongside smaller file sizes also guarantee precise presentation, scaling and that the files are not changed when received by the addressee. The PDF format is therefore excellent for sending files via the Internet.

FineReader 4.0 StartUp offers the possibility of scanning multipage documents in one session and being able to edit them after scanning. The result is then saved in another file. Documents, which have already been scanned, can be selected and processed to a finished file. The software supports documents in Germany, English, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish.

FineReader 4.0 StartUp can run on any system with a 486 processor or higher, Windows 95, 98 or Windows NT 4.0. It needs at least 32MB RAM, or 64MB under Windows NT, 70MB hard-drive space, a TWAIN compatible scanner or fax-modem as well as a CD-ROM drive. The OCR software is available from November 1999 via MitCom Neue Medien GmbH, Munich, or at your local specialist, amongst others at Karstadt, Media Markt, Pro Markt, Metro, Saturn Hansa, as well as in bookstores. The distributor in Austria is Dynamic Systems Software Vertrieb in Rottenmann. In Switzerland StartUp can be purchased via Thali AG in Hitzkirch, or PC Mediag GmbH, Spreitenbach.
