ABBYY FineReader 4.0 Sprint Software Complements UMAX Scanners
Las Vegas, NV (November 13, 2000) ¡ ABBYY USA, the U.S. subsidiary of ABBYY Software House, Moscow, Russia, today reported it had reached an agreement with UMAX Data Systems in Taiwan to ship ABBYY FineReader software with UMAX scanners worldwide. According to the agreement, selected UMAX scanners will be bundled with ABBYY FineReader 4.0 Sprint OCR as well as a trial version of ABBYY FineReader Professional, the latest version of ABBYY software, which includes many advanced OCR recognition features.

ABBYY FineReader 4.0 Sprint is based on the ABBYY FineReader engine. FineReader 4.0 products have received over 30 awards from IT publications, which proves the OCR engine to be one of the most accurate in the world. Now, a new version, FineReader 5.0 is ready for release in two editions ù the FineReader 5.0 Pro for home users and the FineReader 5.0 Office for the corporate network.
The FineReader engine was developed from the principles of Integrity, Purposefulness and Adaptability (IPA). IPA technologies is responsible for improvements in FineReader software with regard to the recognition accuracy for both high and low quality documents. IPA also allows FineReader software to preserve the formatting of scanned documents. Features such as tables and other images are maintained within the processed document.
