Una mancha negra que se extiende detrßs del ojo y las blancas primarias (las plumas mßs largas del ala) ayudan a distinguir a esta especie en el invierno del mßs abundante Charrßn Rosado. Tama±o: 33-36 cm.; peso: 130-190 g. Audio 2 (M. Oberle). Anida en el centro-norte de AmΘrica del Norte, tφpicamente invernando en las costas de MΘxico y el sur de Estados Unidos. Rara en las bahφas de Puerto Rico (por ejemplo, el 26 de enero de 1969, el 7 y 27 de enero de 2001, el 23 de marzo de 2001, y el 2 y 19 de enero de 2002 en la bahφa de Mayagⁿez; del 21 al 28 de enero de 1969 en la bahφa de San Juan; el 6 de marzo de 1971 en Palo Seco; y el primero de abril de 1979 en el puente de la Constituci≤n).
