Annual Report

Ten years ago, immediately following the end of the Cold War, AFS began programs in East and Central Europe. As a volunteer-based organization, a primary focus of AFS in the region has been to develop volunteer structures. AFS is pleased to contribute its experience with this form of organization to the region as a whole.

Today, AFS programs in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Russia and Slovakia give participants the opportunity to share the lives of people who are developing new political and economic systems.
