AFS in Africa
Since rejoining the AFS network, South Africa and Ghana have been actively engaged in capacity building projects that have resulted in more opportunities for intercultural exchanges in these countries. AFS South Africa has also been instrumental in developing the Southern African Intercultural Network (SAIN) which extends the AFS network to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.

In 1998 AFS South Africa celebrated its 40th anniversary bringing participants from its past back into the organization to build its future. The re-development of AFS in South Africa parallels the process of building a multi-cultural society experienced by the country as a whole.
