The first "tourist" on the North Cape was the italian priest Francesco Negri, borned in Ravenna in 1624. Forty years old, in the year 1664, Negri arrived at the North Cape - in the mid of the winter.

But the first famous traveller visiting the cliff on the top of Europe, was the french prince Louis Philippe of Orleans. Only 22 years old, he hid from the revolution in his home country, travelling around the world.

1795 he arrived at the cliff in disguise.

The young prince even got a son with a young woman he met, his descendants in Finnmark is still remembered in Paris.
35 years later he becomes king of France - but never forgot the friends he made on his journey to the North Cape.
