I travel a lot because I like to travel. It's a simple enough reason and one of the places I've been to is Watson Lake in the Yukon (which is in Canada).
In case you've never been there I describe it as 2,000 people with not much of
an economic base and a bunch of stupid roadsigns that suck in the American
tourists and which the locals ignore.

I like it enough to have more than enough friends there and one of my favourite
places to eat was at a hamburger stand that was open only in the summer months.
The proprietor's last name was McWank so he named it McWank's. Then he had
a sign painted saying McWank's with some painted, cartoon animals. It was hilarious and tourists and locals alike enjoyed the food. For fastfood it was surprisingly close to being homecooked fare, The hamburgers were made from ground beef and not the factory made frisbees that are the industry standard and the prices were good. At least for the Yukon.

To go there was fun because of the big "McWank's" sign and the upside-down
golden arches that tickled many an onlooker. We need a bit of satire in our lives and one of the objects of satire should be corporate giants like McDonald's. If they can trivialize the concept of nutrition why can't they be satirized ? Besides, they should live with the fact that they are considered a joke because they symbolize the dumbing down of contemporary society on a global scale.

One day Mr. McWank recieved a letter stating that they had better change their name and get rid of the upside-down golden arches because it was a copyright infringement. He changed the name and to my knowledge has sold the hamburger stand that locals still affectionately call McWank's. For me this is why I don't like McDonald's. Somewhere there are a number of narrow-minded, myopic corporate executive officers who couldn't stand the fact that a McWank's hamburger stand thrived and was liked by the residents and tourists who go through Watson Lake in the Yukon.

As for their idea of a copyright infringement ? What a crock! I can take a leak in the snow, make some golden arches and is that a copyright infringement ? I'd love to see McDonald's take me to court on that ! McDonald's deserves what they got coming to them and this story is just a part of it. They didn't even have to be angry about it but since the corporate bully mentality is so rampant in their heads they had to go after such a small hamburger stand to inflate their egos'. For what the McDonald's corporation did to McWank's and Watson Lake
they can go to hell.
