Start a New Bridge Design

To start a new bridge design:

  1. Click the on the Main Toolbar. The Design Project Setup Wizard will be displayed.
  2. Review the Design Requirement and click the Next button.
  3. If you are participating in a local bridge design contest, enter the Local Contest Code, and click the Next button.
  4. If you did enter a Local Contest Code in the previous step, the site configuration is automatically selected for you. If not, choose the site configuration you would like to use, and click the Next button.
  5. Choose the material (which determines the deck thickness and, hence, the deck weight) and load configuration that your design will be based on.
  6. If you want to use a , choose one, and click Next.
  7. Enter you name and project ID into the Title Block.
  8. Click the Finish button.

Notes and Tips

Once you have chosen a site configuration, deck material, and load configuration, you can click the Finish button and return to the Drawing Board immediately. Selecting a template and filling in the Title Block are optional.

As you make selections for the deck height, support configuration, and deck material of your bridge, the corresponding site cost is automatically calculated and displayed near the bottom of the Design Project Setup Wizard. To see the the detailed cost calculations, click the down arrow to the right of the display.

When you click the Finish button, the Site Design Wizard will automatically create a series of at the level of the bridge deck, to satisfy the requirements of Design Specification 3.g. The , deck, , and water level will be displayed on the Drawing Board. Arch supports and will also be created automatically, if they are included in the configuration you have selected.

If your current design has not been saved, you will be prompted to save it before you start a new design.
