  11.  AB    Rapid detection of low levels of HIV infected cells is necessary for the
  12.        screening of donated blood as well as in the clinical diagnosis of
  13.        infection. Aprogenex has developed an HIV diagnostic test, Virafy,
  14.        sensitive enough to detect infected cell lines diluted down to 1 in
  15.        10,000 with uninfected cell lines by flow cytometry. The test can be
  16.        performed in less than 1 hour and with the use of proprietary background
  17.        reducers and signal enhancers these low levels of detection can be
  18.        obtained. Other potential applications include determination of the
  19.        level of RNA infection in cells as well as the evaluation of therapeutic
  20.        regimens.
