  75. Once the basic program installation is complete, the PRL program will
  76. automatically load and configure itself. This can be a lengthy process
  77. but only the very first time the program is loaded. Following that, the
  78. program will load much faster.
  79.  
  80. To start the program in the future, you should switch to the subdirectory
  81. where you installed the program (i.e. \PRL), type ROUTE, and then press
  82. [ENTER].  If the program has not been registered, a shareware and
  83. registration reminder screen will appear.  After reading this screen
  84. carefully, press any key to proceed. A title and copyright screen will be
  85. displayed, along with the program Main Menu.

  87. Please refer to the files WHATSNEW.xxx and ADDENDUM.xxx (where "xxx"
  88. represents the product release version number) for information regarding
  89. new program changes, features, and enhancements.

  92. QUICK START
  93. -----------
  94. In order to make FULL use of this program, you will need to read the
  95. manual, which is supplied as the file MANUAL.TXT.  However, to get
  96. started quickly just to see what the program looks like, simply switch to
  97. the subdirectory where you have installed the program files (i.e. CD
  98. PRL), type ROUTE and press [ENTER].  The program contains
  99. context-sensitive Help which you can call by pressing the [F1] key.

  102. COLOR/MONOCHROME MONITORS
  103. -------------------------
  104. This program will check to see if you have a color video card installed
  105. in your computer. If it finds one, it will automatically set the screen
  106. display to the color settings. If it finds a monochrome video card, it
  107. will automatically set the screen display to the monochrome settings. If
  108. you are using a color card with a monochrome monitor, the program may not
  109. display properly. However, you can go back to the DOS prompt and restart
  110. the program using the command  ROUTE M  to restart the program in forced
  111. monochrome mode.

  114. USER'S MANUAL & REGISTRATION FORM
  115. ---------------------------------
  116. To View or Print the registration form, move to the far right, select the
  117. UTILITIES menu and press [ENTER]. Then using the Down Arrow key, select
  118. the "Registration Form" option and press [ENTER].  You will be able to
  119. view the registration form before you print it.
  120.  
  121. The User's Manual is included in a file called MANUAL.TXT.  It can also
  122. be printed either from the menu option, or from the DOS command line. To
  123. print it from the DOS command line, change to the directory in which
  124. MANUAL.TXT resides. Then enter the following command to print the manual:

  126.       COPY MANUAL.TXT PRN

  128. To View or Print the manual from within the program, move to the far
  129. right, select the UTILITIES menu and press [ENTER]. Then using the Down
  130. Arrow key, select the "User's Manual" option and press [ENTER].  You will
  131. be able to view the manual on screen before you print it.

  226. ===== Installation =====================================

  228. Paper Route Ledger (PRL) is provided with an installation utility, which
  229. will not only install the program for you, but will also test your system
  230. for the necessary hard drive space, minimum DOS version, and necessary
  231. settings in your CONFIG.SYS file.
  232.  
  233. The program will install the PRL program to your hard disk drive, and
  234. will provide you with a default subdirectory name (\PRL). We recommend
  235. that you use this default directory name, but you are free to change it.
  236.  
  237. The install program will also check your CONFIG.SYS file for necessary
  238. parameters, and will update those settings for you if necessary (if you
  239. don't want the program to make these changes for you, just select "N" and
  240. you can modify them manually).
  241.  
  242. It will also add the PRL subdirectory to your system PATH statement if
  243. you want. Again, you are free to select "N" and make the changes your-
  244. self if you wish.
  245.  
  246. If any changes are made to your CONFIG.SYS and/or AUTOEXEC.BAT files,
  247. your system must be rebooted in order for the changes to take effect.
  248.  
  249. When the installation is complete, the PRL program will automatically
  250. load and configure itself.

  253. =====Paper Route Ledger - Professional Version==========================

  257. We are pleased to announce that we are now beginning the development of a
  258. "Professional" version of our Paper Route Ledger product. This new
  259. product will incorporate many new features that have been requested by
  260. our customers who operate newspaper delivery routes as a primary
  261. business.

  263. Some features that are currently being considered are: The ability to
  264. handle multiple routes, the ability to generate invoices and mailing
  265. labels, the ability to base collections on Quarterly/Monthly/Weekly
  266. cycles, the ability to track and invoice customers who pay via the paper
  267. office, and many other new features.

  269. We welcome any suggestions that you may have for this new version of the
  270. product. Suggestions and feature requests from our existing registered
  271. users will be given priority consideration.

  274. first quarter of 1995. Please note that the Professional version will be
