OCR: AudioMaster Sound Card by Tony Curro In, June, I had the pleasure of experiencing a night at Carnegie Hall. This was for the presentation of the Media Master Sound Standard. Since that time I have received the OmniLabs AudioMaster Sound ard. This is the first sound card to be made using the Media Master standard. Hearing it on my system impressed me all over. AudioMaster comes with a microphone, Joystick/MIDI Port, cables, und software for both DOS and Windows (with OS/2 software available soon for free, to registered users). You can purchase several add-on boards to add to the card, while still only using one slot. The card has 384K of memory, which can be increased to over a megabyte with an add-on board; an FM Synthesizer card (for AdLib support); CD-ROM interface card for several different drives; MIDI breakout box; Amplified Speakers. AudioMaster support Monologue in Windows, and plays . MID files using a JukeBox and .WAV files. In addition there is a Digital Mixer, Digital Audio Recorder, and audio CD-ROM player for Windows. DOS programs include : Band-In-A-Box - Professional music maker. Music Tutor Series - Learn basics of music and sight reading. Sequencer Plus Jr. - Professional Sequencer Command-Line Multimedia Player - Allows Multimedia sound to Autodesk Animator, Harvard Graphics and other presentation/animation programs . CD-Music Player - Play audio CDs in the background in DOS. JukeBox - Play selections that come with it, or create your own. If you are looking for a sound card that is compatible with SoundBlaster, this is not it. I was talking to the technical support people, who tell me that many companies are committing to creating drivers or this new sound standard. The sounds will be raised another level, as this card surpasses current sound cards on the market that I have seen and heard. For use with Windows, I think it has the best sound. For musicians, this is the best on the market. You can use many sound effects and musical instruments . Installation is very easy and painless. Just insert the card and cun install from the floppy. In most cases you would not need to change any settings on the card, although even changing DMA, IRQ and so on, are very simple and well documented.
