Well, I've touched on the free game and patches issues in other letters this month, but we've gotten lots of feedback on the new packaging, so thanks for giving me such a civil letter to address <g>.
There seem to be two main issues with the new packaging. First, it doesn't fit in your mailboxes, and second, it won't hold the CD.
I'll be totally honest. No one thought of the mailbox issue, and I can see where it could be a problem, if you're someone who doesn't get much oversized mail. I don't have an answer for you today, but I'll tell you why we moved to the new format.
Basically, it's just as David mentioned in his letter. When the magazine was on store shelves in the old flip-four box, it got stuffed into the shareware section of the shelves rather than with the other mags. So we had to come up with a large format package that fit well with the other magazines. I'll also mention this allowed us to drop the cost of a subscription considerably.
As for storage, well, you can keep the CD in the pocket on the inside of the packaging. That's why we put it there! But, since no one seems to like this idea, we're working on an alternative.
I realize this doesn't address anyone's concerns, but all I can say at this time is that we hear you, and we're considering alternatives.
