  3. I know it's been a long time coming, but 1.2d is now available from  
  4. ftp.cs.unm.edu.  As before, it's a ".zip" file that unzips into a  
  5. directory that contains an "update.bat" batch file.  This time, the  
  6. transmogrifier will work even if you have SHARE.EXE running.
  7.  
  8. In general, 1.2d's handling of Mac filesystems is greatly improved  
  9. over all previous versions of Executor/DOS.  However, along the way  
  10. we broke the game "1000 miles" and apparently you can't rename DOS  
  11. files using HFS_XFer.
  12.  
  13. Other than just being several times more solid than 1.2c, there  
  14. aren't many user observable changes in 1.2d.  With a new System file,  
  15. you'll be able to print to files, but the new System file is not part  
  16. of the exexp12d.zip file -- it will be released sometime early next  
  17. week.

  19. Just like 1.2c, 1.2d has trouble running under Windows.  If you run  
  20. with "-noclock", it will run fine.  We hope to have this bug fixed  
  21. sometime next week; it is related to code we are revamping for serial  
  22. support and sound support.

  24. Sometime next week we'll give you a sneak peek at a color version of  
  25. Executor.  This will basically just be to show you that we have a lot  
  26. of color stuff going, but that snapshot will probably be even buggier  
  27. than 1.2c was.

  29. Please report any trouble you find in 1.2d to "bugs@ardi.com".  We  
  30. want to get the interrupt bugs fixed and then get 1.3 out in beta so  
  31. we can send 1.3 out free of charge to all our existing customers so  
  32. that they'll at least have access to some of the new features while  
  33. we take the time to get 2.0 into and out of beta and into production.   
  34. We'll also release a new DEMO version when 1.3 comes out.

  36. I am still behind in answering a lot of personal e-mail, I will be  
  37. out of town this weekend, but will work on my backlog at the  
  38. beginning of next week.  I kept putting it off until 1.2d was  
  39. released, and that release took much longer than I expected.

  41. In the past, e-mail coming from ARDI had return addresses that looked  
  42. like:  "cs.unm.edu!iclone!recipient" or  
  43. "iclone!recipient@cs.unm.edu".  These style addresses will cease to  
  44. be legitimate addresses at the end of the month.   
  45. "recipient@ardi.com" has always worked and will always work.  We will  
  46. try to get our mailer to generate those as the return address,  
  47. although now our return addresses look something like  
  48. "iclone!recipient@swcp.com", which is a legitimate return address  
  49. now, but may change sometime in the future.

  51. It's not clear whether or not ftp.cs.unm.edu will continue to remain  
  52. the repository for ARDI ftpables, but if it changes, I'll post a new  
  53. ftp address to this list.

  55. Thank you for the get-well notes I received after mentioning the  
  56. kidney stone.  Thanks too if you decided not to send one because I  
  57. was already complaining about being swamped with e-mail.  As far as I  
  58. know, I'm back to normal -- normal for me, that is.  In fact, I'm  
  59. doing well enough that I'm going to be on vacation Friday through  
  60. Sunday.
