  1. This is the top-most directory of the Executor 2 CD-ROM.

  3. Executor 2 supports three major operating system families:
  4.  
  5.     Dos capable -- DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows '95, and OS/2
  6.  
  7.     Linux compatible -- Linux, FreeBSD and NetBSD
  8.  
  9.     NEXTSTEP based -- NEXTSTEP/Intel and NEXTSTEP/Motorola only
  10.  
  11. The file "install.exe" can be run to install Executor 2 on DOS capable
  12. systems.
  13.  
  14. The directory "dos" contains other files that are specific to DOS
  15. capable operating systems.  If you are using one of the DOS capable
  16. operating systems then you have no need to access either the "linux"
  17. or "nextstep" directories.  If you do access those directories, be
  18. prepared to see weird filenames and text files that look funny under
  19. DOS.  The filenames and text files are correct when viewed under Linux
  20. or NEXTSTEP.

  22. The directory "linux" is useful to users of the Linux operating
  23. system.  It contains a file, "install", which is a shell-script which
  24. can be run to install Executor 2 on Linux compatible systems
  25. (Linux, NetBSD, FreeBSD).

  27. The directory "nextstep" is useful to users of the NEXTSTEP operating
  28. system.  It contains a file, "install", which is a shell-script which
  29. can be run to install Executor 2 on NEXTSTEP/Intel and
  30. NEXTSTEP/Motorola systems.

  32. You can ignore the "rr_moved" directory
  33.  
  34. Within each of the three architecture directory trees is a directory
  35. named "extra/docs", which contains various text files which may help
  36. you if you're having problems with Executor.  Even if Executor works
  37. fine for you, it is probably worth skimming these files just to see
  38. some of the issues that can be tricky under Executor 2.
