  3.                                  Introduction
  4.                                  ------------
  5. Swiftview is an extremely fast text viewer, which also allows you to scan any
  6. other type of file. It has two display modes: text and hexidecimal. You'll be
  7. able to view text in the usual manner while in text mode. You'll be able to
  8. view files as hex bytes (in a format similar to Debug's) while in hex mode.
  9. You may toggle between these modes by pressing a "D" (see Keys below).
  10.    
  11.    NOTE:  SwiftView may not react as expected if you attempt to view a binary
  12.           or hex file in text mode.  For example an EXE file should be viewed 
  13.           in hex mode.

  15.                                  Key Commands
  16.                                  ------------
  17.   UP/DN ARROWS.....Move displayed text or hex up or down one line
  18.   LF/RT ARROWS.....Move text left or right 10 characters per press
  19.   HOME.............Move to beginning of file
  20.   END..............Move to end of file
  21.   PAGE UP..........Move to previous screen
  22.   PAGE DOWN........Move to next screen
  23.   ESCAPE...........View next file (if none available exit to DOS);
  24.                  and abort printing of file
  25.   F1/?.............View a list of key commands
  26.   F3...............Cycle through the viewing area's foreground colors
  27.   F4...............Cycle through the viewing area's background colors
  28.   F5...............Cycle through the border's foreground colors
  29.   F6...............Cycle through the border's background colors
  30.   D................Switch between text and hex display modes
  31.   P................Print the file from the current position
  32.   R................Toggle the ruler on/off in either mode
  33.   S................Search remainder of file for string (must be at least 2 
  34.                  characters)
  35.   Q................Quit Swiftview

  37.                           How to "Install" Swiftview
  38.                           --------------------------
  39. If you want Swiftview to be available at all times from any prompt, you should
  40. use the ODM menu's copy function to copy it into a directory that is in your
  41. PATH statement. (See your AUTOEXEC.BAT file for a list of directories in your
  42. path, type "Path" at the DOS prompt, or consult your DOS Manual for help with 
  43. the PATH statement.) Once Swiftview has been copied to a directory in your path, 
  44. it will be available from any DOS prompt. This is the best "installment" method 
  45. for inexperienced computer owners.

  47.                           How to Activate Swiftview
  48.                           -------------------------
  49. Once Swiftview has been copied to a directory in your path, exit to DOS. At the
  50. DOS prompt, you may type:
  51.                               SV (filename.ext)
  52.                                       or
  53.                      SV (filename.ext) (filename.ext)....
  54.  
  55. NOTE: you must substitute a real filename and extention for "filename.ext."
  56.  
  57. Filenames may contain the wildcard characters "?" and "*"  that you use in DOS.
  58. For example, if you typed in "SV *.DOC", Swiftview would "find" all the .DOC
  59. files. You would be able to view them one at a time by pressing Esc. When
  60. you've viewed the last one, press Esc or "Q" to exit Swiftview.

  62. You may specify more than one file to view by typing in your request like the
  63. second example above: for example, you might type "SV GAME.DOC PROGRAM.PAS".
  64. You'd be able to view GAME.DOC, then PROGRAM.PAS. You can even do multiple
  65. wildcard searches such as "SV *.DOC *.PAS *.EXE" and you'll be able to cycle
  66. through all .DOC files, then .PAS files and finally the .EXE files.

  68. You may omit any filename parameters, but upon execution, Swiftview will prompt
  69. you for a filename (in which you may use wildcards).

  72.                            -------------------------
  73. Depending on your graphics capabilities, you'll be able to view "x" number of
  74. lines of text per screen when using Swiftview.
  75.                       CGA monitor.......25 lines of text
  76.                       EGA monitor.......43 lines of text
  77.                       VGA monitor.......50 lines of text
