Have you ever wondered what you are worth financially? If you have, ^1Net
^1Worth^0 is just what you need. Enter your assets and liabilities and print out
a detailed report. Check out the "quick ratio" to see how well you can handle
unexpected expenses. Project your future standing based on your current net
worth. All these features, and many more, are at your fingertips with ^1Net
Worth^0.
To use ^1Net Worth^0, enter all your assets and liabilities into the
categories as required. This is accomplished by selecting the Edit Assets and
Edit Liabilities functions of the program, then entering the data as requested
by the program. When entering the monetary information you may enter commas
and should enter one decimal point. If the program beeps while you are
entering the information, you have either entered to many numeric digits or you
hit a text key (i.e. abc...). After you have completed entering an asset or
liability, press ENTER or the UP/DOWN arrow keys to record the data. If at
this point the program beeps then the value entered is to large. Just re-enter
a smaller value and continue. While entering data, if you do not wish to save
the data then press the ESC key. This will reset the data to its previously
recorded value and return you to the previous menu. If at any point you are in
doubt as to what to enter for the data, there is a description provided for
each of the data fields located below the edit portion of the screen. This
should clear up most of the questions you have. If you are still having
problems there is more extensive help provided on line by pressing the F1 key.
Exit the Help screen by pressing the ESC key.
To examine your current financial position select "See How You Stand" from
the Main Menu. The first screen shows your total assets and liabilities as
well as your net worth. This should provide you with a feel for your current
financial standing. The second screen displays your quick ratio. The quick
ratio represents the ratio of your cash reserves to your short term debts. A
quick ratio of 1.0 or better indicates that you currently have enough cash
on hand to pay off all your short term debts. For those with a positive net
worth, the next screen contains a table of "projected" net worth values based
on various interest rates over different periods of time. The final screen is
your fixed assets ratio. Fixed assets are more conservative then equity assets
and as people get older, it is recommended that more of a persons savings
should be put into these types of assets. The fixed assets ratio indicates
what age group a person should fall into based on their fixed assets. In other
words, if the fixed assets ratio is 30 then the person should be around the age
of 30.
When you have completed entering all the data and are ready to see a report
then select the print option from the main menu. When this screen is brought
up you will see three options: Printer, Screen, Disk File. To preview a
report, select the Screen option. This will display the report to your screen
for you to view. To get a printed copy of your report, select the Printer
option, enter the value for the number of lines per page your printer is set
for (the default value is 66), turn your printer on, and press the ENTER key.
You can always stop printing the report by pressing the ESC key. The Disk File
option is for saving the information as a text file that could be used in a
word processor if you wish to customize your report.
This covers all the functions of the program from a financial standpoint.
The other functions allow you to save and load your net worth information for
use in the program. If you encounter any problems, remember the online help
facilities.
To run this program outside Big Blue Disk, type ^1Networth^0.
