Total
Cash and Equivalent encompasses things which are generally thought of as
money: currency, bank accounts, and other liquid, fixed-dollar-value items.
Checking
Enter either today's balance, or what's generally left after the bills are
paid. If you don't have a preference, consider the latter.
Savings
This should include passbook savings accounts only.
Credit Unions
This is for liquid funds in a credit union only.
Certificates of Deposit
Enter the current value of your CD's. (That's Certificates of Deposit, not
Compact Disks!) Be sure to include any accrued interest.
Money Market Funds
Enter today's value of your money market funds. Don't include Money Market
Mutual Funds; use only those accounts held with banks and Savings & Loans.
Other Cash Reserves
Enter cash equivalents not already entered. To qualify, it must be 100%
liquid, have a fixed principal, and be easily converted into currency.

Total
Fixed Assets have a stated principal value and a stated maturity. Be sure to
get the current price, and include all accrued interest.
Government Bonds
Include all U.S. Government debt obligations, savings bonds, Treasury Bills,
Treasury Notes, Treasury Bonds, GNMA's, etc.
Municipal Bonds
Include all government bonds other than those issued by the federal
government. Use the current market price.
Corporate Bonds
Include all bonds issued by corporations. Debentures would also go here. Use
the current market price.
Fixed Annuities
Enter the current value of deferred annuities which have a fixed principal and
a stated interest rate. Don't include anything from retirement plans.
Life Insurance Cash Value
Enter the accrued cash value of any life insurance policies you hold.
Other Fixed Assets
Enter current value of any remaining fixed asset. For notes receivable, use
today's pay-off amount.
Retirement Plans
Include IRA, Keogh, vested portion of profit-sharing pension (what you'd
receive if you terminated employment), and tax-sheltered annuities.

Total
Property Assets include all types of real estate, automobiles, jewelry;
anything you can touch. Enter current value, not replacement value.
Residence
Enter current value of your primary residence (sales price if it were sold
today). Don't include value of furnishings you would take with you.
Vacation Home
Enter value of vacation home, or total values if you have more than one.
Include value of time-share arrangements. Don't include rental property.
Rental Property
Enter the current value of your rental property. If you own more than one
rental property, add their values together.
Furnishings
Enter the current value of your household furnishings (not necessarily the
amount they're insured for). Use amount they would sell for today.
Collectibles
Include jewelry, coins, stamps, art, antiques, etc. Use the amount you would
get if you sold the collection now.
Vehicles
Enter the current value of cars, motorboats, sailboats, snowmobiles, motor
homes, and other vehicles.
Raw Land
Enter the current value of any unimproved land you own, including farm
property.
Other Property Assets
Enter all property assets not already accounted for. Don't include mineral
holdings such as oil and gas; these are entered in Equity Assets.

Total
Equity Assets include items that represent ownership in investments and/or a
business. As in other sections, use the current value of the asset.
Stocks
Enter the current value of your stock portfolio. Include both preferred and
common stock.
Mutual Funds
Enter the current value of your mutual funds. Include any accrued but unpaid
interest. Also include the value of any money market mutual funds.
Variable Annuities
Enter the current value of any variable principal-deferred annuities. Don't
include any annuities in IRA's, Keoghs, or other tax-qualified plans.
Business Interests
Enter the current value of any business (or part thereof) which you own. Pick
whatever valuation you feel best suits your situation.
Other Equity Assets
Enter the current value of equity assets not otherwise accounted for, such as
mineral holdings, limited partnership interests, options on future contracts.

Total
Short-term liabilities are debts which will come due over a relatively short
length of time. Enter the current pay-off value for each.
Charge Accounts
Include the current balance of credit card accounts, and other similar lines
of credit. (Department store installment purchase plans, etc.)
Bank Loans
Include any loans you owe to a bank or other financial institution (besides
charge accounts, auto loans, mortgages, and business loans).
Auto Loans
Include any loans you owe which are secured by an automobile or other vehicle.

Total
Long-term liabilities are debts which are spread out over a relatively long
period of time, such as home mortgages.
Residence: 1st Mortgage
Enter the current pay-off value of the first mortgage for your primary
residence. Don't include mortgages on rental property.
Residence: 2nd Mortgage
Enter the current pay-off value of the second mortgage for your primary
residence. Don't include mortgages on rental property.
Residence: 3rd Mortgage
Enter the current pay-off value of the third mortgage for your primary
residence. Don't include mortgages on rental property.

This section is for all liabilities not otherwise indicated.
Rental Property
Include mortgages and other debts connected with a rental property.
Business Loans
Include loans taken for the purpose of operating a business.
Other Debt
Include any debts not included in any other category here.
