JThe object of the game in COLORWAR is simple: to fill the largest area. In
Mother words, each player attempts to cover more of the playing field with his
Lown colored blocks than the other players do with theirs. Each player starts
Owith one space filled with his color and in successive turns, each may fill any
Oblank space that is adjacent to any other space that is already filled with his
Mcolor. Movement does not necessarily have to continue in a line or snake-like
Ipattern; therfore, branching off in many directions is possible and often
Nhelpful. One to four players may play; the computer controls players not used.
HMovement with joysticks is rather self-explanatory; move the cursor with
Nthe joystick and press the button at the desired location to fill. Keyboard is
Nsimilar using the arrow keys, W A S Z, or I J K M for movement and <ENTER> for
filling the desired block.
Press any key to go on
FThere are certain options that can be set for a more challenging game.
LIf the difficulty setting is on "ADVANCED" then the playing area can be made
Llarger than the actual screen is. It also means that the grid "wraps around"
Min all directions so that there are no edges to the field. There is one other
Msetting for an interesting challenge and that is the "CENTER ISLAND." This is
La sort of NO-MAN'S LAND that no player can cross. Some helpful functions are
0also included to help in ease of play. They are:
1"/": displays the entire playing area in miniture
D"+": the computer takes over the player and simply fills in the area
:adjacent to him (useful if only "enclosed" areas are left)
:"0": terminates current player (no adjacent spaces remain)
Press any key to go on
HELPFUL HINTS:
GEnclosing a blank area with a polygon of your own color ensures that no
Ione else can get there. That area is "reserved" and your attention can be
focused elsewhere.
HThe computer players are not the brightest, but they can get in the way.
JEnclosing one quickly is a good strategy, because the longer they survive,
%the harder it will be to defeat them.
BNO PLAYER CAN MOVE DIAGONALY. When feuding over small areas, it is
Jimportant to remember this; small reserve sections can be completed with a
diagonal hole remaining.
GEven if you use a large playing area, a small screen moves much faster.
:GOOD LUCK! and may the best color win! (Press any key)
