The Japanese military police notorious for their brutality and their ability to spread fear through out the community by their sheer presence. The Kempeitai maintained a very firm grip on the populace to prevent any anti-Japanese movements or criminal activities from surfacing. The punishment for anyone caught and found guilty by Kempeitai's arbitrary laws were severe. Some were beheaded, shot and many were tortured. Kempeitai was a word that was synonymous with fear and hatred among the residents of Syonan-to. ^^^
