A word stem, which can be broken into the words Kami (God) and Kaze (Wind), meaning divine wind. Kamikaze was a mythical wind which supposedly appeared out of nowhere to scuttle Kublai Khan's ships when he attempted to invade Japan from China. This term became synonymous of Japanese suicide pilots during WWII who believed in sacrificing themselves for their Emperor whom they thought to be semi-divine. ^^^
