Happened on 10 October 1942. Incident during the Japanese Occupation when POW in-mates as well as civilians were indiscriminately interrogated and tortured by the Japanese military. This episode occurred because of an incident of sabotage in the waters off Keppel Harbour on 27 September 1943. The Japanese thought that someone must have been transmitting signals from within Singapore to resistance sabotage troops. This was the incident where Elizabeth Choy and her husband were tortured. The Japanese seized a couple of radios but none of them were capable of transmitting according to oral history sources. 15 POWs died under torture.
