  1.             Driver's License Fingerprint and Document Requirments

  4. I called the Driver's license/ID issuing authorities in the 50 US states,
  5. the District of Columbia, and 11 Canadian provinces and found only 4 that 
  6. said that a fingerprint was required .     These were:
  7.  
  8.  California (r thumb);
  9.  Colorado (r index); 
  10.  Hawaii (r thumb);  
  11.  Texas (both thumbs).

  14. Damn few!  Of course the people I spoke with were just that. And you gno what  
  15. that means...  Then again,DMV employees do seem to act like robots.

  18. As to document requirements most states want to see a birth certificate,except 
  19. Massachusets,which will accept 3 various pieces of ID, and Vermont,in which one 
  20. can get by with a Marriage License (or divorce papers). Some however want some
  21. ID in addition to the BC. So here goes:

  23. Arkansas        SS card
  24. Connecticut     2 pieces
  25. Delaware        SS card and 2 other pieces
  26. DC              SS card  
  27. Florida         SS# and 2 pieces
  28. Hawaii          SS card
  29. Indiana         2 pieces(1 w/sigature)                                
  30. Louisianna      2 pieces
  31. Maine           1 piece
  32. Michagan        2 pieces
  33. Mississippi     SS card
  34. New York        1 piece w/sig,1 w/address(can be combined)
  35. Nevada          SS card or 2 docs w/SS#
  36. North Carolina  1 piece
  37. Pennsylvania    SS card
  38. South Carolina  1 piece w/sig
  39. Tennessee       SS card
  40. Virginia        1 piece

  44. In Canada only Ontario affirmed that anything other than a Birth cert. was
  45. neccessary and that is mearly 1 additional w/sig.

  47. A good source of info about IDs is The Drivers License Guide Co. in Redwood 
  48. City,CA  800 227 8827   Try and get the US ID Manual. It's a hundred bucks
  49. but if you talk sweet they might give you 30 days to pay.
