  30. I.    Installing FLABBERGASTED! v1.10
  31.  
  32.       The FLABBERGASTED! demo distribution package contains 
  33.       FLABBERGASTED!, additional information about FLABBERGASTED!,
  34.       a configuration utility, and an uninstall program.  If you need
  35.       more information about each of these programs, read the descriptions
  36.       in the following section.

  38.       To install FLABBERGASTED!:
  39.  
  40.      - Download the FLABBERGASTED! demo package to a temporary 
  41.            directory on your hard drive.
  42.  
  43.      - Run the FLABBERGASTED! demo package from Windows Explorer or
  44.        from the Windows "Run" dialog.  The Installation Wizard appears.
  45.  
  46.        - The main components of FLABBERGASTED! will be installed as you
  47.        go through the wizard.
  48.  
  49.      - The final panel for the Installation wizard asks if you would 
  50.        like to view the "readme" file and/or run FLABBERGASTED! right
  51.        away.
  52.  
  53.      - Select the options you want, then click "finish".

  56. II.   Uninstalling FLABBERGASTED!
  57.     
  58.       If you need to uninstall FLABBERGASTED! for any reason, you can do so
  59.       by using the Windows add/remove Programs Control Panel applet, or you
  60.       may choose "Uninstall" from the "FLABBERGASTED!\Utilities" menu.

  62.       To uninstall FLABBERGASTED!:
  63.  
  64.      - From the Windows "Start" menu, choose "Settings", then "Control
  65.         Panel".
  66.  
  67.        - Double-click on "Add/Remove Programs".
  68.  
  69.       - Choose "FLABBERGASTED!" from the list.
  70.  
  71.      - Click on the "Add/Remove" button.
  72.  
  73.       The FLABBERGASTED! uninstall utility will execute and remove 
  74.       FLABBERGASTED! from your system.  Click "Ok" when it has 
  75.       completed it's task.

  78. III.  Contents of the FLABBERGASTED! Demo Package

  80.       The fully-functioning evaluation version of FLABBERGASTED! includes
  81.       links to the Purple Planet Software web site, a configuration utility,
  82.       an uninstall utility, and of course, FLABBERGASTED!.

  86.       This utility will remove all FLABBERGASTED! components from your 
  87.       system.  You must use this feature if, after 7 days,  you decide 
  88.       not to purchase FLABBERGASTED!

  93.       screen saver.

  98.       your system, you will either see a submenu of links or text files
  99.       which will help you evaluate FLABBERGASTED!

  107. IV.   What's New in FLABBERGASTED!

  109.       If you've been using FLABBERGASTED!, you're probably interested in
  110.       what's new in v1.10.
  111.  
  112.       Primarily, music playback has been improved and changed to use a 
  113.       custom music format called a ".ZOT" file which stores music data far
  114.       more efficiently than other formats.  The full version of FLABBERGASTED! 
  115.       will play all General MIDI, S3M, and MOD music files.

  126. VI.   Error Messages and Troubleshooting

  128.          ERROR:  "fatal error (1307): not enough memory"
  129.  
  130.       SOLUTION:  FLABBERGASTED! needs at least 8MB of free memory
  131.                  in order to run.  Exit all running programs,
  132.                  or allocate more virtual memory.

  137.       Due to the enormous popularity of FLABBERGASTED!, Purple Planet Software

  149. VIII. When asking for support help, be sure to include details
  150.  
  151.       We're happy to be of any help, but we'll need a detailed 
  152.       description of the problem you are having with FLABBERGASTED!.
  153.       Here's a list of questions that might just point you in the 
  154.       right direction or, at least, give us a head start to get you
  155.       playing FLABBERGASTED!.
  156.  
  157.       1.  Do you have a Windows 95 system with 8 mb of memory?
  158.   
  159.       If not,  FLABBERGASTED! will not run on your system.  
  160.       FLABBERGASTED! was designed specifically for Windows 95 and 
  161.       requires 8 megabytes of memory.  Hopefully, you saw this before 
  162.       you had to download the whole thing and find out too late.  
  163.       Unfortunately, to do some of the cool stuff in the game, we 
  164.       had to use up all of that memory and leave some users behind.
  165.  
  166.       2.  Did the file transfer complete?
  167.  
  168.       If not, try downloading the file again.  This time, check to 
  169.       ensure that all 2.4 MB is there and then proceed with the 
  170.       installation.
  171.  
  172.       3.  Did you run the FLB110.EXE program? 
  173.  
  174.       If not, you'll have to double click on FLB110.EXE, and complete 
  175.       the installation wizard before you can run FLABBERGASTED!.
  176.  
  177.       4.  Did you see The FLABBERGASTED! icons in your start menu?
  178.  
  179.       If not, our installation wizard failed and we'd like to learn 
  180.       more about your system.  If this happened, let us know and 
  181.       we'll send further instructions to try and gather additional 
  182.       information from you so we can fix the problem.

  184.       5.  Did you choose the FLABBERGASTED! icon and run the program?
  185.   
  186.       If not, click Start, Purple, then FLABBERGASTED!  The game 
  187.       should run right away.
  188.  
  189.       6.  Did you get the FLABBERGASTED! title screen which displays 
  190.           the terms of the evaluation period?
  191.  
  192.       7.  Did you get the FLABBERGASTED! black screen with a mouse 
  193.           cursor?
  194.  
  195.       8.  When you moved the mouse, did the green ball move too?
  196.  
  197.       9. When you pressed keys on the keyboard, did anything happen?
  198.  
  199.       If any of these items failed, our program has failed and we'd 
  200.       like to learn more about your system.  If this has happened to 
  201.       you, let us know and we'll send further instructions to try and 
  202.       gather additional information from you so we can fix the 
  203.       problem.
