  1.                  I. INTRODUCTION
  2.  
  3. MASTER MENU is a system which provides easy access to your computer
  4. applications. It is designed to relieve the PC user of the task of remembering
  5. the startup procedures for each application. By establishing these startup
  6. procedures one time and storing these procedures in the menu file, the user may
  7. then access any application with a single keystroke.
  8.  
  9. MASTER MENU runs on any PC-DOS or MS-DOS based system with a hard disk. The
  10. system can be used on a Floppy system but with little advantage.
  11.  
  12.               II. INITIAL PROCEDURES
  13.  
  14.     A. Simply place All MASTER MENU files in your Root Directory
  15.     B. Key AMS to start MASTER MENU
  16.     C. ALSO add AMS as the last step in your AUTOEXEC.BAT so
  17.        MASTER MENU will automatically execute after power on
  18.  
  19.              III. CONFIGURING INDIVIDUAL MENU ITEMS
  20.  
  21. While the SELECTION menu is displayed, access the CONFIGURATION menu by
  22. pressing F1.  You will be asked to enter your password (if applicable) in
  23. order to access the CONFIGURATION menu.  Upon entry of the correct password,
  24. the system will display the CONFIGURATION menu. It is from this menu that you
  25. will select the individual menu item to be configured.
  26.  
  27. At this point, select the menu item to be configured by pressing the
  28. appropriate alphabetic key (A thru Z).    The system will then display the
  29. configuration screen for the selected menu item.
  30.  
  31. You will be asked to enter some information about the application. Based on
  32. your data, a file will be written to the root directory of your hard disk. This
  33. file will be used to start your application from the SELECTION menu. The data
  34. you will be asked to enter is:

  36. APPLICATION
  37.  
  38. Enter a description of the application, up to 30 characters
  39.  
  40. DIRECTORY PATH (Optional)
  41.  
  42. This entry is optional but when used it must be the full path to the directory
  43. where the application resides.    If it is the root directory, just press the
  44. "ENTER" key.
  45.  
  46. START-UP Command
  47.  
  48. Enter the command which is required to start the application.  For example,
  49. the startup command for LOTUS 1-2-3 is "LOTUS" and the startup command for
  50. IBM's Displaywrite 3 is "DW3".  This information will be found in the
  51. documentation for the application.

  53. SETUP INSTRUCTION (Optional)
  54.  
  55. If there are any prerequisites, such as having a specific diskette in a drive,
  56. enter a message here. This message will be displayed each time the application
  57. is started as a reminder.

  59. Upon successful entry of the SETUP INSTRUCTION, the menu generation for that
  60. application is complete and control will be returned to the CONFIGURATION
  61. menu. You may continue to generate additional menu items or you may conclude
  62. configuration by pressing "ESC" to return you to the SELECTION menu.

  64.               IV. SELECTING AN APPLICATION
  65.  
  66. Press the corresponding Alphabetic character to run any menu application.
  67.  
  68. Normal exit from the application will return control to MASTER MENU.
  69.  
  70. If exit from the application was not through the normal procedure (for example,
  71. it the application was cancelled through the "CTRL-C" keys), you must manually
  72. restart MASTER MENU.  Use the following sequence:
  73.  
  74.      CD\
  75.      AMS
  76.  
  77. NOTE: Certain applications may not use standard exits or return control to
  78. the menu system. If you have an application such as this, you must restart
  79. the menu system manually as stated above.

  81.                   V. UTILITY FUNCTIONS
  82.  
  83. Two utility functions are available by Function Key at the SELECTION menu.
  84.  
  85. F4. Change the MASTER MENU title name. This simply permits you enter to your
  86.     own custom name which will appear in the MASTER MENU heading. When changing
  87.     the title name, key new entry from the first position. Do not attempt
  88.     to center your entry because it will be automatically centered for you.

  90. F8. Change the current Password. This facility will also allow the current
  91.     Password to be blanked out if you do not wish to have Password control.
  92.  
  93.             VI. EXITING FROM MASTER MENU
  94.  
  95. You may terminate MASTER MENU by pressing the "ESC" key while the
  96. SELECTION menu is displayed.

  98. You may restart the menu system by keying AMS from the root directory.
