@BIGGER HEAD = Finally! A text editor designed for Ventura
Publisher!<$!9/18/90>
@BIG HEAD = Announcing VenEdit <197> designed to grant your wish for a
readable screen combined with a powerful editor
@LEVEL 1 HEAD = Are you satisfied with how you've been forced to edit
Ventura Publisher document files?
Probably not. Face it, editing hasn't been easy. You've had two
choices <197> either Ventura itself or a general purpose word
processor. Do these aggravations sound familiar?
@BULLET = Text is difficult to read and edit <197> Ventura's format
codes clutter the screen.
@BULLET = Paragraphs, tables and lists are jumbled <197> lines break
randomly.
@BULLET = Strange codes appear instead of quotes, spaces and dashes.
@BULLET = There is no help with Ventura-related tasks.
@BULLET = File conversion to Ventura is sometimes incomplete or quirky.
@LEVEL 1 HEAD = Now there's help!
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = VenEdit eliminates these frustrations
VenEdit is the text editor expressly designed to edit Ventura Publisher
document files.
@BULLET = It's the <MI>only<D> tool that meets your needs for a
powerful editor and a readable screen.
@BULLET = It is the <MI>only<D> editor that provides help with
Ventura-related tasks.
@BULLET = And, just as importantly, VenEdit is easy to install and use.
@LEVEL 1 HEAD = VenEdit is the <BI>only<D> editor designed for Ventura
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Intelligent text handling and display means no more
cluttered screens, no more eyestrain
VenEdit's smart display mode lets users see text in a form that hides
Ventura's format codes <197> they appear as condensed, highlighted
symbols. Special characters such as typographical quotes, spaces and
dashes appear as highlighted real characters.
VenEdit treats Ventura format codes as single characters for cursor
movements and deletions. For example, you delete a typographical quote
with one keystroke, not five.
What does this mean to you? It means an uncluttered screen that is
easy to read and edit. But, if you need to, you can see and edit text
in its actual form. A single keystroke switches between display modes.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = No more jumbled tables and lists!
Paragraphs automatically wrap at Ventura Publisher line breaks
(<MI><<R>><D>) keeping tables and lists clear on the display screen.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = VenEdit helps you with Ventura-related tasks
A complete set of Ventura-specific commands and menus save time and
energy. Available both as menu items and as command keys, they
automate entry of Ventura's format codes and perform multiple steps
automatically. You don't have to memorize command codes; you make far
fewer trips to the Ventura Publisher manual, too.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Portable files with no surprises
VenEdit is a pure ASCII editor. For this reason there are no surprises
such as extra characters or lost formatting when VenEdit-modified files
are used by Ventura Publisher. Its files are also easily shared with
other programs.
@LEVEL 1 HEAD = Advanced features
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Edit up to 6 files at once
If you respond, <169>So what,<170> it's probably because you've never
had the capability before. You can move text between files easily and
keep your documents consistent. Work on several things at once,
switching when you choose and without delay. Keep some files open just
for easy reference. Any VenEdit text window can zoom to fill the
entire screen. Switch between windows with the touch of a key or mouse
button.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Smart spelling checker doesn't stop at Ventura fields
Aren't you tired of having your index entries and tags flagged as
misspellings? VenEdit's spelling checker knows that fields like
<MI><<$ITest>><D>, <MI>@CHP HD<D> and <MI><<MBI>><D> aren't incorrect.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Command keys and menus <197> VenEdit gives you both
You have the choice of using both pulldown menus and command keys. The
menus stay out of sight when you don't want them. VenEdit has full
mouse support, but there's nothing that you can't do from the keyboard.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = You write. We print.
You don't have to go through Ventura to print. <->VenEdit can directly
print text to almost any printer including PostScript, HP LaserJet, dot
matrix and daisy wheel printers. Margins are adjustable and you can
add headers and footers. You can even print text in the background
while editing.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Standard word processing features
VenEdit offers standard word processing features for document drafts,
memos and similar chores. Features include:
@BULLET = Font/attribute selection
@BULLET = Headers and footers on printed page
@BULLET = Forced page breaks
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Expanded screen with EGA and VGA
If you own an EGA or VGA system you can expand the 25 line display.
See 43 lines with with an EGA display card or 50 lines with VGA.
@L2 HD STRETCH = Macros <197> save those long keystroke sequences
@BODY STRETCH = Macros let you store keystroke sequences to perform
complex operations or provide functions not in standard VenEdit. Each
macro becomes a new VenEdit command that you can execute using command
keys or select using a menu. You can save collections of macros on
disk for later use.
@BODY STRETCH = Of course we also provide a collection of useful macros
to get you started. For example, one converts pairs of quotes to
typographical quotes. Another turns a marked block of text into an
index entry.
@L2 HD STRETCH = Powerful find and replace commands
@BODY STRETCH = VenEdit provides powerful tools to search for text and
replace words and phrases. Each command's search options make major
changes easy. One command combines text searching and macros, allowing
you to find a piece of text and perform a series of commands.
@LEVEL 1 HEAD = It's easy!
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = VenEdit is easy to install
@BODY STRETCH = VenEdit has no complex installation procedure. Most
users can just copy the files to their hard disks and run! Set
configurable options when and if you want to.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = VenEdit is easy to use
@BODY STRETCH = VenEdit follows common editor conventions <197> you
don't have to learn new editing philosophies. This, plus the menus and
online help, minimizes learning time. To help you start, the manual
includes a section listing the basic VenEdit commands.
@BODY STRETCH = Easy to use doesn't mean <169>stripped down.<170>
VenEdit provides a large assortment of powerful editing tools.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = VenEdit can <169>feel<170> like the editor you're using
now
@BODY STRETCH = You can change all command key sequences to suit your
tastes and habits. VenEdit's customization program provides menus and
an easy-to-use full-screen keystroke editor. Commands are plainly
grouped by type. And when you're done, it checks for accidental
conflicts and points them out. The program also changes the VenEdit
help screens to show your customized keys. In addition, it creates a
keystroke summary (<169>reference card<170>) file you can print out.
@BODY STRETCH = VenEdit lets you personalize default settings. You can
change more than 30 features including screen colors, margins, screen
display modes, and tab size.
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = Help!
@BODY STRETCH = VenEdit's extensive, context-sensitive help system
provides easy reference to commands and keystrokes. It goes the extra
mile in making VenEdit easy to use and learn. There's also help on
Ventura's fields and options!
@LEVEL 2 HEAD = We know you don't really want to read the manual...
@BODY STRETCH = We've tried to make VenEdit as easy as possible for you
to use without having to refer to a manual. But when you need one,
VenEdit's manual is complete and logically laid out. The manual
provides both tutorial and reference information. A detailed table of
contents and index make finding what you need a snap.
@LEVEL 1 HEAD = At a price this low, how can you pass up VenEdit?
@BODY STRETCH = VenEdit is only $195. It doesn't take much frustration
or wasted time to justify the cost of VenEdit. Enhance your
productivity; use a tool designed for the job!
@LEVEL 1 HEAD = Try VenEdit with no risk
@BODY STRETCH = If VenEdit isn't everything we say it is, return it
within 60 days for a refund.
