  1.     HOW TO UNPROTECT "Brown Bag WordProcessor"="PC Write", by

  5. First, make a copy of your original disk. NEVER, EVER, mess with
  6. the original (distribution) disk!
  7.  
  8. Using a disk search/zap utility such as the Norton Utilities,
  9. search the file ED.EXE ON THE COPY OF YOUR DISK for the following bytes:

  11. search for:  B8 01 02 CD 13                 ;a disk interrupt
  12. change to:   EB A4 02 CD 13                 ;it'll never get to it!

  14. Next,
  15.  
  16. Search for:  0A C0 74 05 C6 06 1E EF 01
  17. Change to:   EB 0C 74 05 C6 06 1E EF 01     ;skip the routine which
  18.                                             ;tests for "correctness"
  19.  
  20. If these changes are successfully made to the ED.EXE file, PC WRITE (alias
  21. Brown Bag Word Processor) will be fully unprotected.  You'd think these guys
  22. would wise up after a while--this took LESS THAN AN HOUR to figure out!...
