  17. BLACK Box  >A  resister  and a  switch
  18. -----------'installed  in  your phone,
  19. so that  when a person calls  you at a
  20. prearragned  time, lift  the receiver,
  21. drop  it and pick it up, then  flip on
  22. the switch  as fast  as possible,  and
  23. he will  not  be charged for  the call
  24. to your house.

  27. BLUE Box  >produces fifteen (15) tones
  28. ----------'used by an operator to con-
  29. ect  calls.   Standard  dialing  tones
  30. have been  enhanced to produce  multi-
  31. frequency  equivilents.   In  addition
  32. there  are 'KP', 'K2', 'ST',  and 'DS'
  33. keys.

  35.    To  use  Blue  Boxing  hardware  or
  36. software  you  will need  a very crisp
  37. and clear sounding phone line.

  39.    To make a  long-distance  call with
  40. the  Blue Box dial the  directory ass-
  41. istance  for a  certain province  (ex:
  42. Ontario  -  416/555-1212).   While  it
  43. rings  play the 'DS'  loudly  into the
  44. handpeice.   If  you hear  an operator
  45. hang up!  If  you are  successful  you
  46. should  hear a quiet click followed by
  47. a  quiet >beep<; you  have now  become
  48. an operator!

  50.    To dial play the 'KP' tone  or 'K2'
  51. if  you are  dialing  overseas.   Then
  52. enter the  area code and phone number.
  53. Once  you  are  done  press 'DS',  you
  54. should  be back at  the >beep< prompt.

  57. CHEESE Box  >This  box will make  your
  58. ------------'phone  line   untracable.
  59. When  a  trace is switched  onto  your
  60. line this box  will reroute the signal
  61. to some other location.

  64. GREY Box  >This box detects  traces on
  65. ----------'your  phone  line (2000hz).

  68. RED Box  >The box emulates  the sounds
  69. ---------'that  an operator hears when
  70. you pump money into a payphone.

  73. SILVER Box  >Your  phone originaly had
  74. ------------'sixteen  (16)  keys, 0-9,
  75. '#',  '*',  'A',  'B',  'C',  and 'D'.
  76. Keys A-D  are Telco override tones and
  77. are  used to set up  your  own private
  78. loops.   You  can do  this by  calling
  79. directory assisstance and playing 'D'.
  80. This  will  disconnect  the  operator;
  81. you should hear a  pulsing tone.  Dial
  82. '7'  and wait for a  friend to  do the
  83. same,  but  instead of pressing '7' he
  84. should dial '6'.

  87. TAN Box  >This box  is used to convert
  88. ---------'ASCII  to  Telex  code.   In
  89. good words, emulate a Telex.

  92. WHITE Box  >A  portable  keypad  which
  93. -----------'has ALL sixteen (16) keys.
