- Q: In the infirmary on level one I pressed the 'south passage' corridor
- button. What does that button do? In the next room there are those two
- morphs that keep regenerating when you waste them. What do I do there?

- A: Look to the right on the map. a 'secret' door is now openable.
- Go in there and blow up everything upstairs.
- The morphs downstairs no longer regenerate.

- Q: I am having a problem getting out of the first level, I have gotten
- the key from the warden, then I go out to the room on the way to the
- wardens office to use it, and it says the hangar bay doors are open,
- but where do I go from there?

- A: I think at that point there is another teleport that is enabled in the
- Sector 4 Control Room. Check out the map to see where it is. That
- should take you to the hangar, where you'll see the ship waiting and a
- cool take-off sequence.

- Q: Has anyone passed the second stage?
- That's where u have to rescue an old professor.
- I have already rescued the professor and led him to the teleporter and
- he gave me a data cube to destruct the machine room, but when I go to
- machine room and try to use, i.e., pressing space bar, the cube nothing
- happens....what's going on? Do I have to something else prior to that?
- Please help me!

- A: You have to select the cube in your inventory. When you reach the computer,
- "use" the cube by pressing the 'U' key on your keyboard. That will start the
- destruction sequence.

- Q: I think I am on the third or fourth level, and am trying to get
- a bulldozer going. -I'm on the level with the square central room, and the
- little carts that go from room to room to room. There is also lethal gas in a
- portion. Please help if possible.

- A: The drilling machine needs one of the crystals inserted in its side to
- start working. You put two or three in and ... you'll see...
- Radiation room needs radiation shield. Work quickly!

- Q: On the level with the
- radiation zone and the escavator machine, I only got two gems and
- that's not enough to do anything with the bullodozer besides move it
- all the way down the corridor. What do I do now? I've been stuck
- here for ages!

- A: Hmm lets see... I think two of those
- crystals are all you need. If you went in the room at the end of the
- hallway before inserting the crystals in the bulldozer thing, you'd see
- a creature hanging from the ceiling. The bulldozer kills it, allowing
- you access to the locker behind. Something important must be in there...

- Q: I'm on the Oracle level. I've found three gems, and just got the gem
- code from the Oracle. My question is: What do I do with the code? Also,
- what do you put on the hand in the water basin? (I probably can't get back
- without dying.) And how do you kill those darn Golems???

- A: You need more gems. You need to find the five lockers with the gems inside.
- All the gems can be found through the rooms at the hangar bay elevators - where
- the green ship is. it took me a lot of time to get the last orange gem which is
- in this one room, where there's also a golem walking around, and with the
- painting on the left wall to a door, which always tells you "Access denied". to
- open the door change the picture sequence to the sequence that matches what
- is on the wall in the bird room- = 4 largest picture of morph,
- 1 = smallest. Another gem is only accessible through the statue to the right,
- beginng at the hallway, which to the left leads to the basin.

- The hand in the basin wants something from the golem ;-) once you pushed the
- wall button next to the basin, a voice should tell you that the fields are
- activated. go back to the golem, release him by pressing on the statue, lead
- him to the first red sign and when he's a field away from the red field, step
- on it. golem ade.

- You'll need the colored code with the gems as later, when you found the way to
- the pyramid.

- Q: If you've gotten that far, maybe you can help me. I'm on
- level 3 I believe (The alien base right after blowing up the asteroid.) I
- seem to have reached a dead end. I'm in a room with windows overlooking the
- area, and there seems to be some sort of head floating inside a red laser
- cage. I've checked the lockers in the adjoining room, and all there was was a
- bouncing mine. Neither of the exit doors (including the way I entered, over
- the big bridge) will open for me. I have the Upper Bridge key, and the
- Control Room key. HELP!

- A: The mine is a hint. You have to use it to blow something up real good over by
- that weird floating head. Have fun!

- Q: I'm up to level 5 in the
- oracle room, how do i get past? All I hear is "You have not followed
- the way of the Oracle." Any help would be appriciated.

- A: That should be enough. OK, 1st thing is, get the bird. Got into the
- left transporter near your ship, and keep going. You will get to an area
- with birds flying around. Step on the 4 squares in the floor, and a few
- will get stunned. Pick one up. (Note: look at the wall drawing, you
- will need it later. Also, you may want to leave through the other door,
- because another part of your quest lies that way). Anyway, work your way
- back to the oracle room. In front of the transporter, there are 4
- symbols. The key in the oracle room is to move to tiles in order of that
- order. For example, with me it was bird, target, mask, ball. So you
- step on a bird. Then look to see which adjoining square has a target and
- step there etc. Keep doing this (cycling through the pattern a few
- times) till you get to the edge. Then set the bird free and you get a code.

- A couple of tips:
-
- (1) I've made it all the way through the "station invasion" scene (which
- shouldn't spoil anything for ya) without using anything but the regular
- and exploding clips. I've blown about 4 mines but that's it. So save
- your ammo for the Big boys...
-
- (2) Mines are especially handy when you KNOW (save games are cool, huh?)
- that there will be 2-3 baddies popping up. Just set one going back and
- forth where one will appear and BOOM! He's one exploding bullet away
- from meetin the Morph version of the Grim Reaper.

- (3) You can lure one of the Golems into the Chock Full o' Mines walkway
- room and duck while he takes out most or all of the mines. Handy.
- (You'll know what I;m talking about when you see it.

- (4) Using a teleporter when within close proximity of anything
- non-indestructable will ace it. No contest, goodbye. Great for wiping
- out fast robots or those berserker guys. Of course, use a teleporter
- with a golem breathing down your neck and you'll soon be seeing that
- "Game Over" bulkhead slam down...

- (5) You can jump while walking. Hold down both the 5 and J keys (or the
- mouse/joystick equivalent) and your guy will jump with the next foot he
- puts down. Very handy for the Moving Trigger Plate Walkway.

- That's about all the semi-generic advice I have for now...don't want to
- ruin the game for ya with any specific tips...

- Q: I am playing the 4th episode of Fade to Black, trying to pass down the
- long corridor to the bridge. It is full of moving traps; I lack the
- dexterity to manuver around them safely. Is there some alternative
- path to the end of this episode? Or, as a last resort, is there some
- kind of cheat code that will allow me to pass over the damn things?

- A: The best thing to do is to make sure that you have the field scanner
- on and then just jump over them. Using the / key on the keypad.
- That is the easiest way to get past that part.

- Q: I'm at the level right after you finish navigating your own spaceship. After
- killing all the morphs on the level, I still can't get past either of the two
- force fields to what I assume is Room 6 ( I have keys for this room). I have
- pressed all the buttons I could find, and have stepped on all the floor plates

- A: If I remember correctly, this is the level with a corridor and door
- that are blocked on either end by red laser beams? If so, go to the
- corridor and forcefield on the right (facing the door you want) and go
- down that dead end hallway directly across from right-side laser beams
- and there is a floor plate in the far left corner that deactivates the
- forcefield.

- Q: But, after doing that I'm stuck... I can get into the room off to the
- left with the two moving tiles (that just cause 'morphs to appear) and
- the storage lockers, but other than that, I'm stuck. Neither the door to
- the right, nor the door back into the bridge will open and I can't find
- anything to do.
- I've tried every terminal and even things that don't look like terminals
- and nothing does anything.

- A: You have to shoot the terminal at the right of the mask in the
- electronic cage. Just go into action mode and search for a target.
- You'll see the red cross hairs home in on the terminal.
- Once the cage is deactivated, walk to it and watch the video.

- Q: I'm at the level right after you finish navigating your own spaceship,
- and I got the lasers disabled, but I can't do
- anything after that. The only thing I can see to do is get stuff out of
- the locker next to the tentacled monster, but I can't get rid of him.
- Can someone offer a clue how to get past him?

- A: Just shoot the monster, so that he crawls back into his hole. Then jump over
- the pressure sesitive pads that are in front of the hole. From this angle you
- can access the locker and find the needed key.

- Q: I am on Shadow station and am trying to defuse (or whatever) the
- bomb which O'Conner left in the reactor room. I have made it to the
- reactor room and a little time starts counting down, but I HAVE NO
- IDEA WHERE THE !!%&@? BOMB IS? Did I miss something on an earlier
- level? Do I need some item, or am I just pretty damn dense?

- A: When you enter the room and the clock starts ticking, you should see two
- pressure pads to the right of you. Run over them and then to the safe like
- thing on the left - it should open and cutscenes take over.
