- "Read me" for CRIME, Version 1.0
- --------------------------------
-
-
- 1. General info
-
- cRiMe is a single user, text/interactive/fantasy-like game. It
- is written to be used on an IBM-PC. It *should* work on most
- any configuration, however has only been tested on an XT & AT.
-
-
- 2. cRiMe high score file
-
- The game keeps track of high scores for all the games played.
- However, the location of the score file is settable. If you set
- the environment variable "CSKORFIL" to a legal pathname, that
- will be where the game scores are kept. If "CSKORFIL" is not
- defined, then the high score file will be written to "crime.dat"
- in the directory that CRIME.EXE is run from. Note that this
- will only work using DOS 3.0 or later. If an earlier version of
- DOS is used, and the variable "CSKORFIL" is not set, the high
- scores will *not* be recorded.
-
-
- 3. cRiMe as shareware
-
- cRiMe is shareware (also called freeware), which means that it
- is copyrighted, and not public domain. The author of the
- program (me) gives permission to anyone to copy and distribute
- this program, however if you find you are playing it a lot, you
- should send me in a small fee so that I may spend it in riotous
- living.
-
- Unlike some games, cRiMe itself is not obnoxious in presenting
- its craven pleas for money. If you determine the address to
- send in the payoff, then you should pretty much figure that
- you've played/enjoyed the game enough to feel reasonably sure
- that you should send me 10 bucks.
-
-
- 4. cRiMe is a pretty nasty game (rated PG-13)
-
- It's not really *that* bad.... However I don't suggest that you
- allow someone who is still in an age of single digits to play
- the game unsupervised. It gets pretty rasty at times (I mean
- after all, the point is to go on a cRiMe spree...)
-
-
- 5. cRiMe -- summary
-
- Bugs reports, comments and suggestions on the game are always
- welcome.
