  11. The DDN MANAGEMENT BULLETIN is distributed online by the DDN Network
  12. Information Center under DCA contract as a means of communicating
  13. official policy, procedures and other information of concern to
  14. management personnel at DDN facilities.  Back issues may be read
  15. through the TACNEWS server ("@n" command at the TAC) or may be
  16. obtained by FTP (or Kermit) from the NIC.DDN.MIL host [192.67.67.20]
  17. using login="anonymous" and password="guest".  The pathname
  18. for bulletins is DDN-NEWS:DDN-MGT-BULLETIN-nn.TXT (where "nn" is the
  19. bulletin number).

  22.                        DDN/MILNET TAC HERALD
  23.  
  24. The Defense Communications Agency (DCA) has been in the process of
  25. developing a patch to all MILNET Terminal Access Controllers (TACs)
  26. that would remove the DDN "WELCOME" banner.  This was being done as a
  27. security measure to cease the identification of the system as
  28. belonging to the DDN/MILNET, and the type of operating system/software
  29. it uses, etc.  In addition, DCA wishes to make it clear that
  30. unauthorized use of the DDN/MILNET is not permitted.

  32. The purpose of this bulletin is to inform addressees that the new TAC
  33. herald is ready for fielding.  An example of the new herald is as
  34. follows:

  39. If you have any questions or problems concerning this change, contact
  40. DCA, Code DODM, no later than 14 November 90.  Otherwise, the new TAC
  41. herald will be changed effective 15 November 90.
