- "Student Linked To Disks Showing Explosive Devices"
- By Tony Borelli
- Opinions by Jungle Jimmy
-
- A high school junior was indentified yesterday as the source of
- computer disks, sold to numerous students, that instruct users
- how to make explosive devices or how to break into a bank cash
- machine.
-
- The junior, who has been suspended from school fro three days,
- copied disks containing the "Jolly Roger Cookbook" from a
- computer Bulletin Board and gave one or two freshman about two
- weeks ago, vice pricipal DiColo said.
-
- The freshman then sold copies of the disks for $5 to $20 to at least
- five other students, DiColo said, though he suspects it was more.
-
- He said most buyers purchased the disks out of curiosity but that the
- incident shows parnts must watch their children's activities.
-
- A tip from a parent Oct. 4 led to the exposure of the disk sales, he
- said. One buyer's parent told him they were curios why their son was using
- the computer but never pressed the issue, DiColo said.
-
- Although possession and sale books describing criminal technology is
- not a crime, DiColo said the students were punished under a "Catch-All"
- provisionin the school's regulationsthat bars "inappropiate behavior."
-
- "This was inappropiate, dangerous material,"Dicolo said. He said
- the descisions about suspensions were also based on the students
- apparent intentions.
-
- "The kids that were buying it, I think they did it more out of
- curiosity," DiColo said. "But the kids who were selling it, I
- have to believe they knew they were doing something wrong."
-
- DiColo said the junior apparently did not kow that the freshman
- planned to sell the disk and "Just liked to play around with
- computers"
-
- Though none of the stunts described on the disk have been reprted
- at the school, principal Joan Tucker said no one know"what it would
- have led to if undiscovered."
-
- Dicolo said that two or three years ago at onother morris county
- school, which he would not name, he seized a book called the
- "Terrorist Handbook" and found that students had already begun
- trying to pick locks and cheat vending machines.
-
-
-
- How can these kids get suspended for this. They can not show one
- thing that is illegal baout it. The stupid pirnciple even said that it was
- legal. The only thing that they ahd to worry about getting in trouble about
- was if anything that they d/l and sold was copyrighted. But they didn't even
- check. It is not illegal to sell things that don't have copyrights, so why
- shouuld they be suspended. This just shows us how dush bags in this world
- can get around the laws. "It was inappropiate and Dangerous Material" ya
- well so is the shit that you learn in chemistry but that is in school. It
- is Dangerous material but they didn't even find the kids trying to do
- anything with this material except for sell it and make some money.
-
- The thing that this dumb vice principal does not also realize, by
- having this artical in the paper more kids are going to start to do this
- stuff. They are going to think that it is a great idea.
-
- Try to do this in your school. If you do it just watch who you sell
- it to. You can't get in that much trouble. Oh you might be suspended for a
- few days but that is no biggy. So if you want to make some big bucks go and
- try this.
