  6. This is where you decide which forums you wish to extract mail from.
  7.  
  8.  
  9. When you choose [S]elect forums, if the sysop has networks configured,
  10. you will see the network menu first:
  11.

  22. Select the network by either NUMBER or CODE, or press <enter> alone to
  23. display all forums, regardless of their network affiliation.  We will
  24. continue with this help screen as if ALL was sallected.  The screen
  25. will look something like this:

  49. Select Forum by [Name] or [Number] or [RANGE #-#], [+]=Next Page, [-]=Prev Page

  53. When you entered MainMail the first time, the only forums that were
  54. selected were those that the sysop has determined as FORCE or AUTO-
  55. SELECT forums.  Any additional forums must be selected by you.
  56.  
  57. When you choose the [S]elect forums option, you are provided a list
  58. of the first 30 forums in the bbs, and the prompt will be as follows:

  61. Select Forum by [Name] or [Number] or [RANGE #-#], [+]=Next Page, [-]=Prev Page
  62. [C]hange Sort, [D]eselect Range, [Q]uit:

  65. To select a forum, simply enter its NUMBER or NAME.  If you press
  66. <enter> alone, MainMail will display the NEXT 30 forums.  If you press
  67. <enter> alone on the last page, MainMail returns you to the main menu.

  69. If you enter a number or name of a forum that is not being displayed,
  70. MainMail automatically displays a new page of forums containing the
  71. number you entered.

  73. When you choose a forum, MainMail displays a sub menu like this one:

  82. NOTE: Once you have selected a forum by number or by name, The
  83.       MainMail System will create a record in Gap for this forum if
  84.       one is not already there.  What this means is that from this
  85.       point forward, Gap will scan for new mail in this forum, even
  86.       though you have never actually JOINED this forum.

  88. You then choose one of the four options based on how much mail you
  89. wish to extract out of this forum.  Here are the options in detail:
  90.  
  91. [N]one     - Deselects this forum, removes it from your list
  92. [A]ll      - Tells MainMail to extract ALL messages
  93. [Y]our     - Extracts only messages sent to YOU
  94. [P]riority - Makes this forum a PRIORITY forum (extracted FIRST).
  95. [YA]       - Extracts messages only to YOU and to ALL
  96.  
  97. Once you have decided which of the above you wish, enter the
  98. selection followed by <enter>, and MainMail will display the sub-
  99. menu shown here:

  108. MainMail displays the highest message in the forum, and displays
  109. the last message you read in the forum, and asks you for a new
  110. pointer.
  111.  
  112. By default, MainMail leaves your pointer alone, and will extract all
  113. mail since then.  If you wish less mail, you have several choices:
  114.  
  115. 1) Enter a number higher than your current pointer.
  116.       Whatever you enter will become your new 'last read' message number.
  117.  
  118. 2) Enter a number lower than the HIGH MESSAGE pointer.
  119.       Whatever you enter will become your new 'last read' message number.
  120.  
  121. 3) Enter a dash (-) and a number, and MainMail will set your 'last
  122.    read' pointer in such a way that you will receive THAT MANY messages.
  123.    For example, a '-50' will cause MainMail to set your last read pointer
  124.    to the HIGH ninus 50, and you will extract 50 message in that forum.

  126. CAUTION should be used when entering a pointer. If you have not read
  127. any messages in this forum before now, or if you haven't read any
  128. messages in a while, MainMail is likely to extract an enormous number
  129. of messages from this forum.  A good rule of thumb is to set your
  130. pointer to the high message number minus about 50, or enter a -50 when
  131. asked for a new pointer.

  133. Repeat this procedure for all forums you wish to select.
